I don’t know about staring at feet, but, if you have a young child and no relative to provide free daycare, you are better off financially staying at home than you would be if you took the McD job and paid for child care.
Another problem common to the McD and other retail jobs is that it usually takes a while to move into a full-time slot. Starting off, you are part time with a schedule that frequently changes.
