MCP‘s lock up period expires soon. As sure as I am sitting here, the stock will likely double again. That company can’t mine enough “rare earth” to justify its market cap, currently valued at 5 bill. The price of rare earths have shot up more than 500%, over the past year and no one really knows what the fuck is going on. I do not own the stock and have no intentions of buying it. However, I am sending out a cautionary message to those of you trying to pick tops: be careful shorting hyper momentum stocks in a bubble building market.
These are the good times. It doesn’t get better than this. If you are curious how the dot com bubble traded, look no further than OPEN, CRM and FFIV.
Another thing: quit fucking asking me if I am still in stocks. If I said I bought it and have not posted a sell, I am still long. I am not here to hold your fucking hands, so man the fuck up and do your own research. If you don’t have the internal fortitude and the patience to hold a stock for more than 1 week, while sitting on a 2-3% loss, you are not fit for this business. Get yourself some thicker skin, then get back to me.
During today’s tape, I sold out of some spec chicoms, like CHNG and CHLN. Additionally, I booked egregious profits in RAS and OCZ. With some of the proceeds, I started small positions in RLOC and CTCT. That’s how I roll.

My spec hedge didn’t work out, but I liked the moves in DO, STP, CSIQ, ASIA (sold too early), among others. Money is flowing freely from the Ben Bernank to places of low commodity risk like the techs and software. He has no control over this type of horizontal money movement/creation and we are definitely undergoing a mobility and localization (see Gio post) movement.
Oil and coal refuse to trade down. One of the concerns here is food inflation and its impact on some fucking poor country that will get fleeced. Bloomberg reported record high global food prices and that can wreak havoc on the fringe losers.
word. although 2-3% is way too much for me to bear. if a position doesn’t go my way right away i get out and look for a better entry. trading fees these days are near zero..
reduce your position size. you should be down with movements upwards of 5-7% in the negative direction (depending on how volatile the stock is)

China controls 95% of the production of rare earths, or “green elements”—-aptly named for they are the stuff that all the “green technologies” in energy, national defense and electronics and such, are all dependent on.
We need to see MCP be successful in their endeavors to rape and exploit the ground of its “rare earths”.
MCP is the only U.S. corp that is producing rare earths out of their mine in California. It’s estimated to be one of the biggest in the world, so China can go fuck themselves silly with Lanthanides, for all I care.
MCP is headed for $85, then it will roll over $100 this year.
Rumor has it that a bunch of insiders are looking to cash out as soon as the lock up expires (Jan) and may do a private placement to jump the shark … if word gets out of a big discount, “Down goes Frazier!”
Those insiders wouldn’t happen to be the Chinese, now would they?
