Additionally, the initial reaction of the market, after the Fed news, is usually a head fake. ROFL. It’s so fucking stupid; but it’s true.

Wrt a recent debate about whether stocks have ever gone up when inflation hits… I wonder if the spread of info, likethe fact that over long periods of time stocks are great inflation hedges, will mitigate an inflationary selloff or even cause the opposite. Peeps now know that stocks, long term, can hedge inflation, and plenty of them are cheap, so… the markets could reasonably react differently this time

Listen. I know for a fact, because I read it on CNBC: The market was up yesterday in anticipation of an action by the fed today. The market is down today due to an expected action by the Fed this afternoon. I know this ’cause I read it on their web site and it makes me feel smart.
Am I to assume that QE2 is the new buzzword (like M2 was in the ’70s)?
This shall pass and then on to the next stupid buzz word for Wall Street.
Those who are fearful of a velocity spike have been buying commodities, the deflationists debt. They have totally opposite views of the our current situation. Both are afraid.
There is nothing the FED can say or not say today that won’t be disruptive to one or both of these camps.

Here’s how I trade FOMC….
If the initial move is 0.50% or greater, I wait for a 80% retracement of the initial move then take a position in the direction of the initial move. This is typically a position I take on within 5 minutes after the release, and I don’t hold much longer than 30 minutes in most cases. My success rate with this strategy is just under 75%. Good times.
Note: if the initial move is less than 0.50%, I typically don’t trade.
I like to flip a coin. Works 50% of the time and you don’t have to go in and out in the blink of an eye.
