Stay of Execution Granted

I will not brag about my wins today. Instead, I will relish my stay of execution, as if it was my last day to live. Tonight, I shall celebrate and eat like a king. Crabs, lobsters and steaks for everybody, served on golden trays, garnished with 24k gold flowers. At the Casa de Fly, champagne flutes will overflow with Armand De Brignac and cuban cigars will be passed out, as if they were $1 bills.

God willing this rally will continue, allowing yours truly to recapture lost coin. However, I will not rely upon mere “luck by occasion.” Like I said earlier, I will use this rally to upgrade my portfolios with higher caliber equities. Stocks on my “to buy list” include: Nucor Corporation [[NUE]] , Cummins Inc. [[CMI]] , POSCO (ADR) [[PKX]] , [[CBD]] and Masco Corporation [[MAS]]

I hope you are both right, but I need to see more volume before I can think this is anything other than an oversold bounce (and a very pathetic one at that). Just my 2 cents.

My purchase of SD last Friday worked out…today….but I think Fly is right. Enjoy tonight for tomorrow is another day.

Staring at the unemployment chart today I realized reality…the truth. It might take 20 years to get back to 2007 employment levels.

NFL Channel right now replay of SuperBowl LII — 2:30 to go, Giants on their own 16 yard line… let’s see how this ends, shall we?

(Cards beat UConn by 13 too, so it’s already a good night)

Holy crap you cannot watch that Eli Manning catch-and-release, chuck it to God, and Tyree catch without your jaw dropping to the floor, even 2 years later….

    Amazing.

Manning in the grasp but zebra swallows his whistle … just in case NE had video of Manning scrambling for his life that may be perceived as illegal, LOL!

C’mon… they are not going to call in the grasp while he’s still running around.

Talk about “in the grasp….” Grasping at straws, mebbe… 😉

That catch by Tyree… and then a little later, he almost made another miracle catch.

He had the first TD for the Giants too… how he didn’t get the MVP, I dunno….

There must have been three Patriots on Manning waiting for the whistle and when nothing he breaks free just enough to throw up a prayer and then a lucky catch …….. oooh they’re skilled. What have they done since then, NOTHING!!!!

Should have kept Shockey (doing his thing @ Who Dat?) and the gun toter as they have nothing but a descent offensive line now …. enjoy years of futility with that group and watch Manning revert to his old ways as the OL breaks down from here. I told you 8 games into the season they were in trouble as their record proved them to be incapable of beating any team over .500

First the players, then the asst coaches and finally the head coach ….

Yeah, he got killed all night, but maybe nothing worse than that Alford goring with about 22 seconds left on the clock.

Then two more “go long Randy’s” and it was all over.

    IT’S DIFFICULT TO NOT PLAY!!

Since my trend following systems got me out at the close of last Monday, I’ve been trying to think of an excuse to get back in.

But in reality, there are only two things to which I should listen: one is a trend following signal, and the other is an appropriate PPT score, and neither of these have occurred yet.

Damn, I hate sitting on my hands!

In the meantime, I’m investigating other indicators that may allow me in for the short term. See how much I like to play.

For example, I went back to the gym today after having torn a muscle in my back last Monday. Once through all of the core body exercises, I moved on to the exercise that hurt me last week.. I reduced the weights slightly did the first set and decided I was good to go. I’m an idiot! With the second set, I hurt myself again, and had to stop immediately. So, I’m now on Vicodin an alcohol for at least another week. Hopefully, I’ll get back to the gym next Monday.

You see for some of us.. IT’S DIFFICULT NOT TO PLAY, and maybe a lesson to be learn’t (sic).

    AsJesse Livermore said:

There is the plain fool, who does the wrong thing at all times everywhere, but there is the Wall Street fool, who thinks he must trade all the time. No man can always have adequate reasons for buying or selling stocks daily – or sufficient knowledge to make his play an intelligent play. I proved it ….
My theory and practical application have proved to my satisfaction that nothing new ever occurs in the business of speculating or investing in securities or commodities. There are times when one should speculate, and just as surely there are times when one should not speculate.
There is a very true adage: “You can beat a horse race, but you can’t beat the races.” So it is with market operations. There are times when money can be made investing and speculating in stocks, but money cannot consistently be made trading every day or every week during the year. Only the foolhardy will try it. It just is not in the cards and cannot be done.

Today was a nice up day in a sea of red. I would feel like it was a reversal had there been any volume to speak of. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the volume needed for any true upswing. The top is in this market, from here, it is time to add to short positions.

New source of comedy is reading the headlines related to crude oil prices.

I give to thee from end of trading on Thursday: “Oil jumps above $74 on strong US GDP growth” Which was promptly followed by Friday’s headline of “Oil falls 1 pct on weak demand, down 8 pct in Jan”.

Then on Sunday evening we get “Oil steady around $73, outlook for demand weighs”; a carryover from Friday I suppose. Well lo and behold the latest headlines are talking about oil SURGING above $75 on US manufacturing growth. Hey Mensas… if GDP rose 5.7% don’t you think perhaps manufacturing might have increased?

For me, seeing oil under $73 after the GDP number came out was a good signal to add to existing energy positions. I did not go all in at that time thinking there could be more downside to just a tad under $70 due to ass-hat fuckery.

In the end I like the descriptions given in the typical headline based on 0.50 to 1.00 movements. Oil crashes to $73, oil skyrockets to $74, etc. Always good for a chuckle considering not that long ago $65 oil was considered an absolute God send to most E&P companies.
