Time to wrap – it was a good week – extraordinary for the Fly, no doubt. Thnx, j, for the TRF tip – 25% in one week – not too bad – I know you love Russia.
I like your style … berry nice, Señor T.
noice calls in generale
While others are flip flopping around Wildwood litter box beaches with redneck tshirt tans, The Fly moves across supply chains.

“We approached CRM thinking usability and cost were the key benefits of the on demand model. Salesforce.com delivers these—and so much more. We now have a customized CRM system that’s easily accessible on BlackBerry devices for our mobile reps. It gives us the ability to access our CRM application at headquarters, remote offices and while traveling around the globe.”
— ADTRAN [on salesforce.com site – now I see what you were thinking]
Hardware and software based network infrastructure it is.
I am long CRM too.
Fly,
Are you holding the rest of GLW into earning?
yes, of course. they will blow out
RRRRIIIIIIIIIPPP! That was EDC moving 30% this week – another j pick. What is ECRI saying about the economy now?
SPY just made first lower low for the day. Lord willin’ we will fucking tank into the close.
Yeah, I’m talking my book.
Do any of you fuckers have the Insight Research “Telecom, IT, and Healthcare: Wireless, Wireline and Digital Healthcare, 2008-2013” report?
Wood,
What % of drop before you get out of short position?
ECRI is still predicting economic recovery – that is all – carry on. Economic Cycles Research Institute.
Hawaii, I will be closing 3 short positions by the bell and will leave on a SPY short of half my capital.
I will likely close 1/2 to all of the SPY short early next week.
I’m looking for AT LEAST 1-2% drop from Thursday’s close.
Who wants to be long here? Hell the Dow Jones is set to close up for the 5th day in a row. The Nasdaq is trying for its 7th or 8th. Who the fuck knows, I lost count.
RUN RUN RUN FOR YOUR LIVES.
you’re an idiot.
No, you are.
no you.
you.
Indeud, it was you. I win again.
funny, when you win, I win. Just smaller. And diluted.
Fly-
ALVR is a good one for WiMax contracts. Italy, US states, etc.
Thanks Wood,
Looks like the S&P is starting to go down here
So much for that.
Geez!!! Just give me a dip please!!
Fly, have you considered shorting DELL. I am long INTC and ORCL, but my DELL short looks the best.
Also, I have noticed you considered the inverse ETFs when you did consider shorting, why?
these last couple of days the, with the last hour of trading the markets have moved north. Joe 6pk and his mutual funds are buying. this has to run out.
Needle dick, Joe6pk is not buying.
You’ve got about 2% of firms providing 70% of volume.
But either way, you’re right, it will run out.
Wood its my understanding mutual funds normally buy or sell into the last trading hour. Maybe im wrong. However the tape does not look real. To much of a run on too few companies IE GS and Morgan.
Needle, no doubt the funds like to buy/sell when liquidity is the highest, typically near the close. I’ve seen some research that shows this to be true.
And while they are undoubtedly buying and selling, most of the volume you are seeing is from high frequency trading firms. I’m not saying they are doing anything wrong, or that it is a conspiracy. I’m just saying that their buying and selling seems to have nothing to do with anything technical or fundamental that I’m aware of. Of course, they have more money than I, and are smarter.
“I’m just saying that THERE buying and selling seems to have nothing to do with anything technical or fundamental that I’m aware of. Of course, they have more money than I, and are smarter.”
That was great. Your, perhaps mistaken, grammatical error sums up the Woodshedder view of algo trading.
I trying to read the tape. Its my thoughts that the market at this time has to be a suckers rally. We still have raising unemployment and another wave of mortgage resets.. Im very hesitant to chase this market.
The Real Hmmmm, WTF are you talking about? I am an algo trader you fool.
Here, go get enlightened. You can thank me later:
For example, high frequency trading firms, which represent approximately 2% of the 20,000 or so trading firms operating in the US markets today, account for 73% of all US equity trading volume. These companies include proprietary trading desks for a small number of major investment banks, less than 100 of the most sophisticated hedge funds and hundreds of the most secretive prop shops, all of which operate with one thing in mind—capture profit opportunities by being smarter and faster than the closest competition.
They are, as a rule, secretive, stealthy, smart, and relatively unknown. The key to being smarter is their unique technology that enables them to profit on a number of these quantitative strategies, which they will protect at all costs.

Bro, dude, I don’t give a shit about algo trading anymore. Doom blog followers see “Goldman bots” hiding under prop desks unzipping traders’ pants bidding UP markets at the close on more than 50% of these days and out of their infinite wisdom they bet against them. If it’s happening more than half of the time to the upside, WHY SHORT INTO THE CLOSE? Besides, go read the papers by Themis Trading if you want to know how some of their algos work. Also, I know a guy who did stat arb at SIG, a large quant based private firm that conducts algo trading. He wrote programs that traded based off of news releases, in the millisecond timeframe.
The point is, you used THERE when you meant THEIR but the way you used THERE made you sound like West Virginia was on the other line.
I’m not saying they are doing anything wrong, or that it is a conspiracy. I’m just saying that their buying and selling seems to have nothing to do with anything technical or fundamental that I’m aware of. Of course, they have more money than I, and are smarter
I see “their”
Hmmmm. The conversation was about whether Joe6Pk was entering the market through mutual funds at the close.
My point was, maybe, but probably it is just more churning from High Frequency firms.
.
That’s because there’s an edit function dipshit. If you know they have an edge over you at certain times, find where you have an edge over them and use that to your advantage. Liquidity and size are edges for the retail investor.
Emotional…..
Beyond that check the time line. I tink you be rong
