Thus far, the crowds for the new iPhone 3gs have been good. No matter what the idiots on CNBC say, the new iPhone will be a boon for all parts makers. So, with that in mind, it’s very important to buy an iPhone, take a hammer out, then smash your brand new iPhone to pieces, in order to see what’s inside. Or, you can just surf the web and find out by way of “reading.”
Here’s what I’ve found, so far:
Elpida (ELPDF.pk) & Toshiba (TOSBF.pk): Dram die (replacing Samsung)
No Marvell Technology Group Ltd. [[MRVL]] or CSR wifi chips: big loss for those losers. They were replaced by Broadcom Corporation [[BRCM]] .
Toshiba: 16gbyte NAND Flash
Intel Corporation [[INTC]] is providing memory for baseband processor.
Possible [[ARMH]] and Imagination Technologies (IGNMF.pk) graphics chips (INTC owns 14% of Imagination, trading on the London).
Elpida DDR SDRAM win.
OmniVision Technologies, Inc. [[OVTI]] auto focus 3 mpixel win.
Infineon (IFNNY.pk) baseband processors.
No word on touchscreen processors yet. My guess Cypress Semiconductor Corporation [[CY]] and Synaptics, Incorporated [[SYNA]] are somehow involved.
Skyworks Solutions, Inc. [[SWKS]] amps.
TriQuint Semiconductor [[TQNT]] duplexer modules.
Possible: Atmel Corporation [[ATML]] may have supplanted Silicon Storage Technology, Inc. [[SSTI]] (minor part).

The third generation iPhone is the one many Apple users where waiting for, as most issues are worked out by the third generation. Now that you can get the new 8 gig for $99 with an AT&T plan they should sell quite well.

I have an iphone and a blackberry. Iphone with At&T network and Bberry with Verizon. By far, the iphone gets faster internet service.

Fly, I have an iphone and a blackberry also. AT&T sucks in NYC. I use my blackberry for all my phone calls these days, since that phone is with Verizon. Unfortunately, my iphone is the original, almost 2 yrs old, and the Edge blows also.
My Google phone smokes the iPhone but Apple zealots will only buy Apple. People buy for appearance versus technical ability.

Oil has pretty much gone straight down since Goldman put out its $85 forecast a couple of weeks ago. They hate being on the wrong side of a trade, so I’d bet a 32 oz. T-bone steak against a puny hot dog that they make another very public call reiterating the forecast before month end.

Why do you think I’m “bullish”…. I have some stocks that I won’t sell… or rather I’ll keep even if the broad indices head lower as my cost in them 50% below market. I hold BAC for instance at just over 5 bucks which i want to hold for a 3 to 5 years.
I hold some Aussie infrastructure plays yielding and looking like they will maintain their dividend at around 15%.
I’m actually short Euro and Euro yen, which is hardly a bullish play.
