Dollar strength (UUP) is contributing to this mornings sell off. In addition, a lot of leadership names (AAPL, INTC) are selling off here. Due to this development, I sold out of my 2nd largest position, ERX, in order to raise cash. Plus anyway, with FTK, SD and ARD longs, I have ample exposure to the energy space. I will not miss a beat.
I intend to use this dip as a buying opportunity, for I believe it will be short lived. At the top of my buy list are the following names: ENTR, ATML, TRID, CNXT, FNSR and GLW.
Keep in mind, when buying piece of shit stocks, like the names mentioned above, it’s important to do so in moderation. I do not intend to buy an obscene amounts of stock, instead, just enough to average in or bulk up my position to make them respectable and in-line with current prices.
Not to beat on a dead horse, but the volume and price action in FTK is very noteworthy. I suspect the company is not on its death bed. As a matter of fact, I suspect the company is in a good position to turn things around, providing they are afforded appropriate funding.

Don’t be too worried about the dollar strengthening. In fact I couldn’t really understand why people thought a weak dollar is a good thing for asset markets.
It’s not dollar strength you should be too worried about, it’s Yen strength. You need to watch Dollar yen to figure out if liquidity is drying up. The Euro is next to useless for that as the economy there is fucked and the banking system is far more fucked up than the US with their own version of sub-prime (eastern europe).
If the Yen strengthens against the Dollar and everything else, then yes, that ’s bad signal for assets. Otherwise a stronger dollar is okay and in fact could abate foreigner concerns.

Here’s the scoop on currencies that I just heard from a flow trader in NYC.
The Chinese central bank is playing the Euro like a concert pianist. They were the ones that sold big time on Friday NY time when the market is thinnest and they were the ones that bought several yards of Euro (billions) the other day when the Euro was 1.38ish sending it back to 1.4250ish that we just saw. What also pushed the dollar down was a huge order probably from Blackrock to make or prepare for the acquisition from Barclay’s which is supposed to be around $12 billion. That transaction forced the pound much higher and dragged the Euro with it.
This morning the Chinese sold the Euro again in large licks- possibly a several yards.
The flow trader thinks we see 1.3850 to 1.4150 as a range. He says the market is extremely choppy but there is no tension in terms of customer repatriation to anchor liquidity concerns.
So if the US asset markets are going to follow the Dollar with the Chinese Central bank fucking around like this then it’s going to be just as choppy.
