Can someone explain what the problem with GS and MS is ?
This is the way I see it. GS and MS borrow money in the overnight markets. Rates in the overnight market have skyrocketed. Therefore the cost to finance their debt has increased effectively squeezing them. This debt has been used to finance CDOs and real estate which are both dropping in value. So GS and MS are effectively paying higher rates to finance depreciating assets which is not good news.
Does this sound right ? The reason I ask is because I want to take a position in MS or GS but won’t do so unless I understand what I am betting on or against.

I got on the LMC train awhile back… good company, just that analysts do not treat it so kindly. They do have some issues – i.e. Congo project, but that may even be resolved already. It’s dirt cheap that’s for sure…
Why FCX
FCX is heavily owned by a few hedge funds who are going out of business. Hence, the stock is declining more than others, due to forced selling.
