I have a natural inclination to bet against the herd. Sometimes it works in my favor, others times, like now — it ends in ruin. Today’s magnum opus of this great big titted rally is a short squeeze in basic resource stocks. Since I am long a triple inverse ETF with time decay working against me — I thought it’d be fitting to illuminate this point to you — the unwashed reader — in order to make yourselves feel better about life in general.

Stupidity
I sold yesterday after 3 hours, that makes me stupidtitly stupid.
I’ve been thinking 2015 repeat for a while now.
But there was a great moment after the flash crash, when it looked like we were going to double dip. Sentiment hit new lows with prices well above the lows. Bears did a victory dance, pressed their bets, and off we went higher.
That dip felt very similar.

Global economic fundamentals are good and Trump is clearly just posturing with his tariffs ahead of negotiations with the Chinese. It is not in China’s interest to enter into a trade war, and Trump will fold like a cheap suit when the time comes, especially as Republicans are going to pressure him not to rock the boat ahead of mid-terms in November. Furthermore, I trust the Fed won’t blow it all up by being too aggressive with rate hikes ala Greenspan in late 90s. Shorting is suicide. Drink the Kool-aide, its all good!
