Reminder: Ken Langone is a True Boss

I always like Langone, but respected him more than ever after my Mother had heart surgery a few years ago at NYU Langone — which is a beacon for healthcare in NYC and the world. Their facilities are made possible by Ken, thanks to a donation of ~$250 million.

Feel free to read about Ken on his Wiki page to learn more about him. Had Ken not been a successful broker and co founder of Home Depot, I imagine he’d work at a gristmill or something even more rustic than that. He’s the salt of the earth, a relic from a day when men were men and didn’t apologize for it.

He is an interview with CNBC today and discussed Trump’s tax cuts, buyback, and education.

It’s worth your time.

The key line in his bio: “His father was a plumber and his mother a cafeteria worker. ” He knows what it’s like not to be born with a silver spoon, so he still respects the middle class.

Ironically, the 1% that worked hardest for their wealth tend to beleive that a lot of luck was involved, while those that were born into it are more liekly to think the rich got there exclusively through their own efforts.

Mark Zuckerberg is the ultimate right place, right time guy and he believes he is God. Not uncommon in the tech world.

Yes, (((they))) do appear to be in the right place and time when it’s time to steal and defraud those around them – Suckerberg stole FB from the twinkie bros,..just sayin’

Joe Kernen was like “make up your mind then”

    Ken Langone “ huh?!”

    Joe instantly regretted that. Lol

He’s right, non-market interest rates will prove to be the worst thing ever.

But of course his defense on the Trump tax delay/obfuscation package and the Trump budget and his defense of buybacks are self-serving bs …no matter how teary he gets about his apron-wearing $11/hr employees.

Only option will be to squeeze government spending when rates rise. Maybe this is the plan.

This IS the plan. See “Paul Ryan Medicare.”

The Republcians are playing a world-class short game. On taxes, they promised one of their own Senators a vote to shore up Medicare and they already reneged. They cornered the Democrats into an immigrants vs Americans deabte on the budget, and killed them. Americans are in favor of DACA, but the Republicans put poison pills in the bill. After Vegas, they promised a ban on bump stops. Now they promise an age restriction. They just lie through their teeth. They tremendously increased the natioanl debt with permanent tax cuts for the rich and tax cuts for the middle calss that expire, making the calculation that they will be extended (increasing the debt futher).

However, they aren’t looking at the big picture. The US is a consumer economy. If the middle class isn’t doing well, that WILL trickle up. An efficient economy will have inequality, but the scale of the current situation is unsustainable.

These large backlash swings in legislatures, first with Obama turning things Red and Trump turning things Blue have a major effect: incumbants lose, so a younger generation of legislators takes over.

@ferd – Those “Apron-wearing $11/hr workers” you derisively (no surprise there, it is the Elitist in you) refer to do indeed exist in Home Depot. A cashier also makes $11.09/hr to start. Have an actual skill and stay there a couple of years and you wind up making substantially more. Like any other business. Oh and did I mention medical benefits? I have a few friends and acquaintances who were self-employed tradesmen who took jobs at Home Depot and Lowe’s – after they reached age 60 and could no longer do the physical labor they had been doing their entire lives – and/or could not afford health insurance on their own. I guess that makes Langone evil in your myopic worldview.

You may be projecting your own baggage onto me. There was nothing “derisive” toward the workers in my post. I was referring to the irony of Langone, who has a long history of defending outrageous exec compensation ..even for golden parachutes for failed and fired HD execs, getting emotional for those guys while at the same time defending the tax giveaway and buybacks. Read what is written.

I have nothing but admiration for those who work and take care of their own shit. A guy who pumps gas to take care of his family is of more worth than some internet blogger/troll …or, for that matter, than a fool like me who wastes time responding to said troll.

Awesome. …from Wiki …I wasn’t aware of the revenge aspect of Home Depot’s founding. I’m a big fan of the revenge genre.

Since the blog seem slow today, has anybody noticed what has been going on at Bizzaro Fox News. Besides attacking the FBI, which has been going on for a while, Hannity, et. al., has been going after the Broward County PD. Now they have good reason, but that’s never stopped Fox from fully supporting bad LEOs in the past. I guess the Fox equation is:

NRA > LEOs > minority rights

However, what was most shcoking is Carlson Tucker last night (2/27/2018). All of a sudden, he found his morality and went on a rant because a multinational (Amazon) was not paying enough on taxes in his opinion. He had a whole segment on it with a guest acountant or something. Sacrilege! I’m surprised he wasn’t fired on the spot. Maybe he should read bills he supports next time. However, the most shocking thing is this: Tucker Carlson actually said that even if Amazon was following the legal law, they should pay more taxes on ***moral grounds.*** I’ve NEVER heard any even slightly right-of-center person EVER suggest that before, much less someone with a prime-time show on Fox.

Tucker Carlson is and always has been a bow tie wearing guy from San Francisco

Liberal at hard , like most good people are.

Hope that explains it for you.

Carlson is easily one of the brightest intellects on the teevee. No surprise there.
