Dick’s Sporting Goods Rehashes 2012 News, Banning the Sale of Assault Styled Weapons from Stores

Be Dick’s Sporting Goods and see your face getting eaten off on a daily basis by Amazon. Take a small subset of your inventory that Amazon doesn’t compete with you on (assault styled guns) and ban it from your stores because it’s good press and because your stock is down 35% over the past year — thinking it might increase foot traffic into your overpriced denizen for flimsy sportswear and equipment.

Then have it revealed it was all a ploy, since you’ve already banned the sale of assault styled weapons from your store in 2012, following Sandy Hook.

Whatever.

As usual you are only half right. Dick’s Sporting Goods stores haven’t sold the guns but the company’s Field & Stream division stores have been selling them. No more. Guess you idiots who need to own one for hunting (laugh) or home protection (chuckle) will need to stock up on hand grenades.

20 something is hardly a handful…only takes one weapon and a large magazine to do damage…. I’m sure even you can do the math?

BTW.. I was on my junior high school rifle team and could hit an ant at 200 yards. Now I slingshot marbles at deer to keep them off my lawn. Only pussies need an AR.

True. I just got a shiny new Savage Arms 12 gauge. Ted Nugent said it’s the most effective and deadly firearm available for close proximity at home base. Lauighing my ass off at left pussies who want the AR because it looks so mean.

I’ve been in a civil war, sticking around to fight with an AR-15 is a sure way to die. Best to flee with the weapons to safety.
I have also been in civil unrest where an AR-15 is indispensable and will save life and property.

No true regulated militia men get their arms from a place called dicks. They get custom made DDV5 and pick up at local shops. This should do well in the civi war part deux I think https://danieldefense.com/firearms/gas-system/mid-length/daniel-defense-dd5v1.html

Couldn’t the same case be made for alcohol? What is the point in purchasing or consuming alcohol? All of these idiots who partake in such ridiculousness and end up killing people in DUI murders and other stupid behaviour put our lives at risk. How about these football helmets that are literally killing our kids through concussions? Why are we not calling for a ban on these? See how far this shit can go? What ever happened to doing some of these things just for fun?

When’s the last an alcoholic killed 17 people?

Speaking about how far this shit goes, what about the other direction? Following your logic, do you think we should allow full-autos to be sold to 18-yo olds along with drum feeds and armor-piercing rounds?

Full autos are already banned, they are a terrible choice of tactical firing weapon anyway which is why you won’t see operators using them in that manner. Listen, you are talking to someone who has put thousands of rounds down range through a 223/556 weapon. If you asked me today how I would go about committing an atrocity like we saw at these schools or whatever the case may be I would tell you using an 223/556 weapon is a horrible choice. So keep blaming the method and ignoring the motive and madman and see how far that gets you. With respect to alcohol you can simply look at the numbers, the deaths are so much higher. In 2015 there were 10,265 DUI deaths. In 2015 there were 475 mass shooting deaths. Need we even discuss the 52,000 opiate deaths in 2015? Maybe we should focus on that number first.

You missed my point. You can only hold one of 2 views:
            1) banning *any* firearms is an infringement of the 2nd Amendment
            2) banning *some* firearms is NOT an infringement of the 2nd Amendment

These are mutully exclusive views. So how can anyone think that banning full-autos does not infringe on the 2nd amendment, but banning AR-15s does?

The same way banning child pornography is not the same thing as banning pornography or stepping on the first amendment. And I am not saying banning 223/556 rifles infringes on the second amendment. My point is its just plain dumb to do as that weapon is not a high powered weapon, its a varmint round and will not stop or slow down the motive or madman. You are looking at attacking the method and not the motive. You keep talking about AR-15’s, what about AR-10s? From the way you are speaking it appears you are not well versed in firearms.

I’m using the AR-15 as a representative weapon. A law that bans only the AR-15 would be stupid.

I amy not have the span of your firearm knowledge, but plenty of depth. Did you know your so-called “varmint round” can penetrate Body Armor? That’s because the velocity is 2500-3500fps, which matters just as much as the size of the bullet.

Also, the miltary cares what it hits and also where misses go – a terrorist doesn’t. Rate-of-fire is much more important than accuracy. Why do you think that mass shooting outside the US are usually by well-funded terrorist *organizations*, while ones in the US are often carried out by people with virtually zero gun experience?

Full autos aren’t banned, they can be owned if a) built prior to 1986, b) is transferable or c) you are a class III manufacturer building sample product to sell to military or law enforcement.

Very expensive and rare to own.

A bomb is much more effective than a rifle for mass killing.

I guess the fact that this was a false flag carried out by the usual suspect makes no difference for as long as the marxist snowflakes peddle the bullshit of banning guns. Once AR are banned, the same synagogue suspects will shoot up another school all over again with different guns and the ban on that particular rifle will be on again. How about we get rid of the entire tribe and see if false flags like 9/11 and school shootings end first?

Hmmmm. Field & Stream division. AR 15’s can double as a decent fishing pole and if they don’t bite you can still shoot them. Try doing that with a snub-nosed 38.

The *majority* of Americans would probably be looking at this positively. So they are simply making a stock-holder friendly decisiion, thinking they’ll gain more customers in the suburbs than they lose in the rural areas.

Note that they are stilli selling hunting rifles, so how gun owners will *actaully* be upset, especially if Dick’s is the nearest or cheapest place to buy ammo?

So maybe we stop allowing the sale if liquor and beer and only allow the sale of wine. How could any alcohol drinker be upset with that?

Copare the percentage of Americans that drink beer or liquor with the percentage that purcahse AR-15 style weapons. Plus beer is lower-alcohol contetn than wine, ie, less dangerous.

A more apt analogy would be to ban the sale of high alcohol-content beverages – which some states currently do without any mass-protests to try and cahnge the law back.

And an AR-15 is not even close to the power of other true high powered rifles such as .308’s or 300 winmags.

If someone wants to use a firearm which is a suboptimal choice to kill people in mass as we saw in both Tim McVeigh and Niece France attack, then its much better to use a Saiga semi-auto.

The reason these kids use AR-15’s is because this is what they use on Call of Duty, plain and simple.

Oh and by the way, I completely agree with raising or lowering the firearm purchase age to a consistent age for both handguns and long rifles. We need to define when a person is truly an adult, not make different ages for all of these things.

I think that you should be at least 18 to legally own a handgun or a bolt-action rifle, and at least 14 to hunt with a rifle.

If you own a gun used to commit a crime (unless it is stolen by someone outside your household), you lose your rights to own a gun.

If you sell a gun to someone and that gun is used in a crime and you did not perform a federal background search, you lose your rights to own (and also therefore sell) any guns.

If the above laws are passed, then I would be OK with someone owning an AR-15 or other semi-auto rifle after 5 years of responsible gun ownership (effectively raisng the age to 23).

Don’t fight the trend. It’s slow trend but the current trend in America is against easy access and easy fire guns. A bit like the War On Drugs that started in the 1970’s.
I predict by 2040 half the states will have moved to full licensing and the other half in a direction of even longer incarceration for gun crimes and illegal possession.
