Coinbase Ordered to Cooperate with IRS to Fish Out Tax Evading BitCoiners

It’s really over this time, folks. This is not a drill. The IRS wants their fucking money from all of the resplendent gains bitcoiners have been touting. Believe me, upon investigation, they will be looking at your social media profiles. A San Francisco court just ruled that Coinbase must cooperate with the IRS to fish out tax evaders.

Reason being?

Less than 0.5% of Coinbase awesome crypto traders have reported gains. Prepare to get BTFO.

“That only 800 to 900 taxpayers reported gains related to bitcoin in each of the relevant years and that more than 14,000 Coinbase users have either bought, sold, sent or received at least $20,000 worth of bitcoin in a given year suggests that many Coinbase users may not be reporting their bitcoin gains,” she wrote. “The IRS has a legitimate interest in investigating these taxpayers.

Last year, analysts said similar demands could be made of other digital-currency companies if the IRS widens its investigation.

The case is U.S. v. Coinbase, 17-01431, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California.

What does this mean for you?

You’re very likely to go to jail for a very, very long time.

Indeud.

    LOL

The really funny thing is blockchain could solve the government’s issue of unreported cap gains.

It does not matter that coinbase was ordered to cooperate with IRS because the main feature of BTC is its anonymity, security and untraceability of btc tokens to their owners,…oh,…wait!

    See where this is heading?

Some time ago, an arm of the US Government deemed bitcoin to be an asset. This means that even if someone uses their bitcoin for a transaction the impact will be to trigger income or cap gains.

    Bitcoin is fucked.

Anyone US citizen who makes money and cashes out without reporting their gains to the IRS is a fucking moron and they deserve what they get for not doing so.

I have not converted any of my crypto back into cash so I haven’t realized any gains but will certainly report if and when I do.

I could potentially blow off my wiener playing with cryptos and, if that happens, I’ll revel in the beautiful $3,000 tax deduction.

Illusion shattered. Let’s see how that affects the buyers. But they just removed a lot of sellers from the market too

    Read Matthew 2:11
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin.
