How Do You Feel About Summer Ending?

I was on my backyard deck a short while ago, peering into my expansive yard that I always place effort into each and every spring. It dawned on me that I hadn’t spent more than 10 minutes out there the entire summer, always busy with one thing or another. When I first bought the house, I was so excited to have the space. I even set up a badminton and cricket courts — in an effort to provide the kids with some outdoor activities at home. Since then, a gigantic trampoline has taken over, sparsely, if ever, used — which also serves to block out the hedges of trees I had planted 4 years ago. The cricket court was eaten up by illegal Mexicans riding fast atop lawnmowers — subjecting the remainder of the materials to collect dust in my garage.

I bought a picnic table this spring, something I was keen on buying and using. After purchasing it, I stained it to my liking and placed it under a gigantic maple tree in the yard, a tree that I intend to extract maple syrup from next spring. I toiled over the damned thing, made sure that it was covered and protected from the elements, tucked away neatly in a shaded spot rarely visited by the insects that sashay back there. I’ll have you know, I haven’t used the darn table the entire summer.

Needless to say, things don’t always work out as planned.

For those of you domiciled down south or at west, I imagine the end of summer has less of a finale feeling, since your weather will remain accommodative throughout the year. For us northerners, the beginning of fall is the nascency of decay. The turning of the leaves is represented by beauty, but it’s also a warning.

I’ve always viewed the end of summer, popularly celebrated on Labor Day (today), as a call to arms, a time of year when the real work is to begin — casting aside the superfluities of summer. In a sense, it has always meant promise to me too, since I was gearing up to greatly increase my income by ‘going to work’, steadfastly laboring during the harsh cold months of winter in the hopes it would yield a great harvest by summer.

Not to get too philosophical on a blog strewn with F-bombs and Trump memes, but life is about expectations and how we adjust to them, isn’t it?

At any rate, I hope you enjoy the balance of your day and cheers to a good summer and hopefully an even better fall and winter.

Summer gets old real quick. There are all kinds of bugs trying suck your blood and or poison you just to give their small non- brained insect skulls a kick. Plus, for some reason people like to sweat in their clothes just walking around and prefer stay that way all through the night. I take 4 showers a day doing that. Then there is fucking skin cancer. Fuck that shit. I like to traverse about when it’s too cold for these types of fuckers enjoying these hot as hell temps, spreading their idiocrocy.

Nice post. I am sitting on a Long Island beach enjoying the last day of ‘summer’ wondering where the fuck it went. Every year on Labor Day, I ask myself that same question. We were just celebrating July 4th and boom, done.

I took apart my giant trampoline a few years ago when my kids aged out. I hope you have the netting to keep your kids from getting seriously injured. I never understood those with the big trampolines but don’t have the safety net. It’s a recipe for a trip to emergency room.

Enjoy the rest of your day too sir.

    We have a net.

I always felt the passing of July 4th was the beginning of the end of summer.

Le Fly, Carter Braxton Worth will never accept your invitation to a badminton game. No matter the playing field. He has already charted his own demise to you

It’s still 90 deg F and smokey in the Seattle area. I blew out a pair of shorts the other day. I have one pair remaining but they are white. I know you’re not supposed to wear white after today and I know gentlemen don’t wear shorts anyway, but I’m ready for it to cool down a bit.

I’m on a ferry to an island. I swear to God some senile old women just crashed the men’s bathroom aboard this boat. I didn’t have the heart to tell her… She seemed harmless enough. Maybe she identified as male haha

Gentlemen never wear shorts, unless to the beach or pool. I haven’t worn shorts outside for a decade.

So you wear shorts inside? What’s wrong with your legs? They are normal limbs like your elbow down, correct?

Ps I had this conversation with my 98 year old grandfather who was decked out in full suited tie and vest with a top hat, chillin in 95 degree weather under the porch, 2 minutes from the beach the other week. It was epic

We had our first in May (no small Fry) so, needless to say, we didn’t partake in the typical summer debauchery this year. At least not as much as usual. Non-the-less, it was a fantastic summer with many outdoor gatherings with friends and family and still plenty of golf. Similar to yourself, I always welcome the changing of the seasons. The best business is always done in the fall and winter and my pipeline is brimming.

Global cooling really put a hamper on summers in the northern part of the rust belt region. We’re still waiting for one to start. Where the fuck is Al Gore on this situation…?

I welcome the change coming in Florida.
Less humidity and cooler temperatures means longer bike rides and more time playing tennis, etc.
As a kid growing up in the Chicago area (moved to Miami when I was a youngster) Labor Day was always a day to catch a double header at Wrigley Field and watching the hapless Cubs continue their losing ways.
The family would load up the 1963 yellow Chevrolet Impala station wagon and Mom would make about 12-15 salami sandwiches, pop corn and we would watch Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ron Santo, Don Kessinger play two at Wrigley.
Around the middle of the second game I would get a sick feeling in my stomach and wished that the day would never end because the next day was the first day of school.

I love the summer, even as an adult I hate to see it leave….. even though I no longer freeze my nuts off in the cold northeast when it’s over. It’s just a different vibe than the rest of the year. A little different pace, although the pace remains pretty slow in the south compared to home. It was a very nice summer indeed….

The end of summer brings me down a bit because I am in Maryland now and I was raised in the south. I miss home, which for me is not here. Here’s another September Song from Frank Sinatra. I believe this is the last version he did in 1965, his interpretation is completely different from the first time he did it as a young man.

Everyone here knows what they want out of Fall……volatility.
That heroin rush of a week with the market down 3-5, now it’s 3:58 on Friday the DOW just sank another 300. AAPL down 10, NVDA – 18.
You pull the trigger at 3:59, relax over the weekend and wake up Monday to futures +30.
    That is Fall.

With the coming of Fall. Get long CMG. The DACA psyop is here. Watch Cali go full Burrito with nothing but meat in it. Or real Mexican food.

weather in Destin Florida is perfect now until late November early December. About 2 more months of boat season. Love this time of year. Don’t miss NYC at all as far as fall and winter is concerned. But now it appears the Cat 4 is coming for us. Been a while since we had to deal with that shit. 2004 to be exact. Was exciting when I first moved here and was a renter (Opel in 95). Not so fun anymore.
