Harvey Heading Back to Gulf After Dumping 40 Inches in Texas; Experts Fear Second Landfall Near Galveston on Tuesday

Valero is tweeting that they might have an issue with their Corpus Christi and Three Rivers refineries.

Their other gulf coast refineries appear to be fine.

ZH has the full rundown on the storm, its impact, and how the state of Texas is entirely fucked.

Harvey made landfall just before midnight on Friday between Port Aransas and Port O’Connor as a monstrous Category 4 storm – the first of that level to strike the U.S. since Charley in 2004, and the strongest storm in more than 50 years to hit Texas.

By daybreak it had been downgraded to a Category 1 storm from a Category 4, according to the National Weather Service. But the storm was expected to settle in over South Texas for several days. As much as 30 inches of rain is forecast to fall by next Wednesday, with some areas getting as much as 40 inches.

The fear now is Harvey heading back out into the water to rejuvenate, regain its virile powers, and then smash into Texas again on Tuesday.

Fox is reporting the storm may, in fact, make a second landfall on Tuesday, near Galveston.

Hurricane tracker, Mark Sudduth, assesses the damage.

This is probably the worst storm since Sandy, with damages well into the billions.

Adding a bit of levity to the story is a woman literally handing a 6 pack of beers to a Fox reporter covering the storm, adding new meaning to the term ‘Hold My Beer’.

One thing is for certain, Harvey isn’t done yet and should linger for days, with major flooding forecasted across southern Texas.

FAKENEWS: 4″ of rain, not 40″ and the hurricane is tracking to head west between Houston and Austin.

This website is a bastion of deceptive propaganda! (To his credit, at least it’s not falsely advertised). At times entertaining, as presented.

Heard estimates of $40 billion damages. If so the insurance industry is going to get hammered.

Perhaps they should stop watching fake news and embrace climate science.

We are going to see trillions of dollars worth of damage over the next decade so that toothless West Virginians and North Dakotans can have a job digging up black tar.

I can’t believe no one is pointing out the massive impact on how this storm will create rise in sea level. It’s probably really hot rain too, so glaciers are really fucked now.

Maybe one day someone will develop drones (solar powered of course) that fly all across the ocean – blasting freezer beams down creating huge chunks of ice/glaciers, thus lowering global sea levels. Just brainstorming though. Open to suggestions

Ha. They had a quick $400,000,000 windfall after Sandy followed by years of raised rates.

Texas will brush this off and get right back to work. We defeated the whole Mexican Army with a stolen cannon and a sack of nails.

And an extra hat’s off to Texas if they can do it without issuing “Texas Strong” tee shirts.

It’s been somewhat tame today. The bayou near my house still has several feet to rise before cresting. There’s been some tornadoes that have hit random locations in Houston causing local damage to some homes and businesses but the flooding has been minimal.

I just hope everyone is safe, scary stuff. I’m sure a lot of people didn’t listen to the warnings of the danger. One of the last storms we had ended up not being bad in Florida. The internet went full on batshit when the weathermen were off on that one. The weatherchannel was a conspiracy, yada yada.

The media hype makes this all seem much worse than it is. Wood structures can be EASILY rebuilt. So gay.

I noticed NBC started off with footage of a laundromat with its roof off at one point of their breaking news. Total destruction.

This whole thread should be on comedy channel. You ladies just need to get serious. Lives are at stake and you talk bullshit the entire afternoon.
