There are two questions here.

As for healthcare, ACA / Obamacare was designed to be the precursor to single payer. They knew they couldn’t jump directly from the private insurance model to single payer, so this was a way to incrementally introduce it. Subsidizing the insurance racket was a huge mistake, but sure enough, now that the GOP is trying to take it away, people are starting to realize that they actually agree with most of the ideas in it. The fact is private medical insurance / heathcare in this country is probably the biggest racket on the planet. Most are truly disgusted by the $600 aspirin and epidemic of medical bankruptcies in this country. Does it really cost $8000 to set a broken bone in 2017? We’ll probably end up with some kind of hybrid system in the next 10 years if not sooner.
Healthcare OWNS Washington. Don’t kid yourselves, it’s a cartel around Medicare/aid. Set prices at whatever you want and lobby for approved expenses.
