President Obama once said President Lula da Silva of Brazil was the most popular politician in the world. Now he’s heading to prison for 9.5 years. The former two term President was found guilty of corruption charges and thereby sentenced to spend the next 9.5 years inside of a fucking prison cell.
He will remain free on appeal.
When he left office 6 years ago, he has an approval rating of 83%. Now his approval ratings stand for nothing, as he will likely DIE IN JAIL — as the 9+ year sentence will push him past the life expectancy for Brazilian men.
The good and incorruptible Judge Sergio Moro said da Silva gratefully accepted $1.2m worth of bribes from engineering firm OAS SA — which was then used to renovate his beach apartment.
Mr. da Silva came from nothing, rose up the ranks the spartan way, and will now return from whence he came.
