Grocery Pain: Butter, Wheat and Milk Prices Continue Record Surge

Just sit there and enjoy the inflation. After you spend $500 at the grocery for a few small bags of goods, feel good knowing that you were merely a byproduct of Federal Reserve policy to enhance inflation.

Mission accomplished.

Since hitting a seven year low in early 2016, the FAO food index is up 17% — led by strong gains in butter.

Look at some of the price increases for June alone.

Butter +14% to a record high
Meat +1.8%, up for a sixth month.
Grains +4.2% to a one-year high.

You might want to forgo that large stick of butter inside your moronic bullet proof coffee this morning. It’s getting awfully expensive.

Euro butter still cheap at our stores in central Pa. The “nut” milk such as cashew dropped prices to 2.99 1/2 gallon

Dairy producers (aka farmers) are not seeing any of these increases. Middle man markup.

We order our groceries online and go pick them up at the store. Much easier to avoid buying a bunch of unhealthy stuff you don’t need. Set the menu for the week – order the food. Has also cut our grocery bill by 1/3 as we no longer impulse buy. This is actually going to be bad for the store’s revenue, but good for our pocket book.

$K and $CPB hitting 52-week lows today – guess people are giving up their canned goods and cereals so they can preserve their meat portions.

No inflation due to cheap imports and cheap energy. All the quality stuff is way expensive along with housing prices and stock prices. Debt has grown massively. The central banks have failed yet again (Who do they actually try to please?) plus we get an even more ferocious time bomb. Fucking annoying humans would be my statement to you. Like a bad women driver on an expressway.

Like come on! Central banks have failed again??? CB’s have never been more successful transferring all remaining value to their owners than now. Do I need to name the usual synagogue suspect that are pleased with their loot?

So, in other words, food prices are finally recovering from a steep deflationary period. Amount of food inflation since March 2015? Zero, nada, flat. And if we go back a bit further, food prices are still in a deflationary trend.
June 2017 FAO food price index: 175.2
March 2014 FAO food price index: >210
