Since the deep state is hell bent on rubbing Trump’s election promises in voters’ faces and demonstrating how little it matters what citizens actually want, it is highly probable there will be no wall since Trump is no more than public relations mouth piece for deep state.
He’s not a public relations mouthpiece for the deep state. He’s just a brain damaged guy with tons of people around him trying to take advantage of him. The MIC promoters are among those people.
But it certainly doesn’t matter to a demented guy what the people who voted for him want. How could it? His brain doesn’t function well enough for him to comprehend it.

None of the Congress members whose states are on the border want the wall. It would be ridiculous, would not make a difference in illegal immigration, and would require taking Americans’ property away.
People probably have barns or cattle grazing fields or something else on their property where DT wants his wall to be. And a lot of the border is a river. Whose side will the wall be built on there? Who will get the water use rights? Everything about the wall is ridiculous and an incredible waste of money.
The wall is a feel good metaphor and fictional story about keeping people safe by keeping bad people away. But the reality of it would be absurd.
I’ve got an easy solution. Punish the people and companies that hire illegals. problem solved.
I will add to your solution — anyone who comes here must be sponsored by a citizen, a company, corporation, etc. and they are then responsible for them for 7 years, until that time where they could be eligible for citizenship if they have lived according to right and law. The responsible sponsors must ensure their clients work, pay taxes, etc. and behave according to law, else they will be held financially responsible for any societal costs and the costs of shipping them back to whence they came.
