Essentially, it’s more nothing — literally.
Here are the highlights.
Trump made $150m in 2005.
He paid $5.3m in Federal taxes, incurring a tax rate of 4% thanks to write downs. He had written down $916m in 1995
Additionally, he paid $31m in alt minimum taxes. Overall tax rate was 25%.
The White House releases a statement regarding the leak.
“Before being elected President, Mr. Trump was one of the most successful businessmen in the world with a responsibility to his company, his family and his employees to pay no more tax than legally required,” the White House said in a statement. “That being said, Mr. Trump paid $38 million dollars even after taking into account large scale depreciation for construction, on an income of more than $150 million dollars, as well as paying tens of millions of dollars in other taxes such as sales and excise taxes and employment taxes and this illegally published return proves just that.”

Don’t you think it’s weird that 2 pages of 2005 return only leak and no other year? Maybe this is his cleanest return and shows he paid taxes, normal stuff, so they wanted it to leak. Another distraction and other tax returns might not be that “nice looking.” Let’s see the rest of the years…every president should be required to release them.
