Fantastic Wage Growth Partly Offset by Flaccid Weekly Hours Growth

The media is sucking Obama’s dick today, following today’s final jobs report of his reign. What they tell you is that 2 million jobs were created over the past year. What they don’t tell you is that over 95 million people aren’t in the damned work force, an increase of 18% since Obama took office.

Additionally, they point to today’s wage growth of +2.9%, but fail to mention that average weekly hours are flat and at their lowest since 2011.

img_6038

In other words, people aren’t exactly making more, since their hours are flatlining — likely due to a lot of temporary, part time, gigs.

As a matter of fact, 94% of jobs created under Obama are part time.

What does this mean for markets? Not a god damned thing.

The lowest common denominator wins all the time in this tape. Literally nothing is viewed as bad news and stocks are impervious to bad news.

I’m trading again, eschewing caution and embracing my inner harambe again. Let the bells of Rick Ross ring loud and true and may bearshitters exit the arena without their heads — horribly wounded by the dick guillotine.

Locked and loaded, bring it on. It’s a dog eat dog world. Long $RGR as an investor, not speculator. P/E is reasonable, good margins, good ROE, UNLEVERAGED, and solid dividend. Product line ain’t all that bad either.

RGR is up 800% during Obamas presidency. Might be time to consider selling.

Wrong answer. Gold is up 40%, 10 yr treasury about 14% and the S&P 162% since January 2009, but I still am long on all and add to positions when appropriate.

C’mon Fly. 95 million?…really? 40 mm of those people are retired, 15 mm in school, 16 mm disabled, etc. I’m not saying this economy is perfect but throwing that bs stat shows lazy thinking Fly (being polemic gets people responding on threads though).

Yes, this is the Right Wing news MO. It is called bulverism. It’s a logical fallacy that combines a genetic fallacy with circular reasoning.

To do it, you “assume that your opponent is wrong, and explain his error.”

So, no matter what news comes out about what Obama says or does, Right Wing “news” like Drudge, Breitbart, Fox etc. assume that Obama is bad or wrong and then sets out to prove that he is, and to explain what his error or flaw was. This is a basic part of liberal bashing.

So your genetically disposed comment assumes those of a more realistic bent are by birth, inferior to those who mistakenly call themselves liberal?

…see… I’m telling you, that mindset is where ol Hill screwed up mightily. The deplorables and all that rot you know?

Just keep it up child. The next election will find the Luba buried even deeper in the scheisse than they are now.

Thanks for insulting me, rather than thinking of any counter-argument to what I said.

The genetic fallacy is this below. Has nothing to do with anything with inferiority by birth. I know you may be longing to have liberals insult you, so that you can feel justified in insulting us. But I did not insult you. Only you insulted me.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_fallacy

“The genetic fallacy (also known as the fallacy of origins or fallacy of virtue[1]) is a fallacy of irrelevance where a conclusion is suggested based solely on someone’s or something’s history, origin, or source rather than its current meaning or context. This overlooks any difference to be found in the present situation, typically transferring the positive or negative esteem from the earlier context. “

Employment stats are automatically considered bad, because their source is a Democratic administration, which Right Wingers automatically consider to be evil. That is how the genetic fallacy applies here.

The government has been rigging employment and job numbers since the Clinton regime and even prior.

      C’mon pat19561,

Are you purposely trying to be ironic? How can you accuse Fly of lazy thinking when you clearly haven’t put any thought into the data?

For example: define “retired” is it: a) someone who has reached their financial and professional goals and chooses to stop working to enjoy the golden years? or b) someone who has reached old age and can’t find suitable work on par with what they used to have and thus chooses to “retire” despite falling short of their financial goals? How many of those “retirees” are age 65+? FWIW, on this “retiree” point, you do have an argument. there is a legitimate increase in the #’s of baby boomers reaching traditional “retirement” age and thus the increase in retirees can be largely explained. However, the data shows that many of these retiring boomers are also well short of there financial goals, both by survey (of their stated initial retirement goal) and also as indicated by macro median savings/investment data.

How about “disabled” thats a curious stat. Did the American workforce somehow become absurdly clumsy and injury prone since the GFC? The increase in applications AND grants for “disability” looks like a multiple s.d. event relative to history. hmmmmmm thats odd.

The point is, pointing out that people are flowing into categories other than “unemployed but still looking for a job” doesn’t mean anything unless you can expalin the large coincident flows into these other categories right arounf the GFC.

          Pat19561,

You seem confused. You’re post is incoherent nonsense. Fortunately, I worked at a bar once and I have adapted my linguistic abilities to interpret the dialect of alcoholic babble.

If my skill still serves me; it would appear that you are attributing a remarkable bull run in markets to……Obama. By contrast; most economists, experts and those with average reading comprehension attribute the bull run to the Fed……namely: Chancellor Bernanke of the marijuana filled blunt clan. Chancellor Bernanke was appointed by Senor George W. Bush….so Obama doesn’t even get credit for the assist.

I would love to be proven wrong. Which Obama policy am I overlooking, that had a significant positive impact on the economy? Thanks.

An 18% increase is the important fact. Whether it’s off a base of 10m or 95m is moot. The fact remains, we are enduring the biggest slump in productivity in 35 yrs. The 18% jump cannot be refuted. You’re all Obama bots.

Obama is not perfect, but he is pretty darn good. One should consider the economy that GW Bush handed him. And also the fact that Republicans in Congress obstructed him every step of the way toward pulling the economy out of the fire, saying that their goal upon Obama entering office was “to make Obama a one-term president.” And they obviously didn’t care if they wrecked the economy some more, in order to meet that goal of theirs.

Hey, Benny, thanks for the Reich video. It’s excellent. Reich is a gem.

Please consider not insulting Trump supporters though. We progressives need to role model how to respect people. If we can, eventually the American public may become able again to respect one another, and work together on common goals. Then we will no longer be Divided and Conquered like we are now. And no longer passively at the mercy of Congress and the president.

I know it is hard to restrain oneself from insulting people who insult you constantly, as many Right Wingers do. But somehow someone needs to get Americans back on the right and respectful and constructive track again. And it sure doesn’t look like that someone will be a Right Winger or a Trump supporter, since most of them have been propagandized by Fox, Breitbart, Drudge etc. into a habit and compulsion of constantly bashing those who disagree with them.

It’s like religions that make people afraid of, and horrified by, “infidels.” Progressives are the “infidels” of politics currently. Despite the fact that our candidate got 3 million more votes. We must remember that we are NOT the minority here. It’s just that the electoral college system– along with Assange, Comey, and Putin, and possibly voting machine fraud– ended up putting the minority candidate in office.

Great wealth was achieved by Investors during his terms. Handing the office over to a daddy’s money inherited whiny bitch Putin puppet man child. Which will make for wonderful day trading and volatility. I got out of all uranium tickers yesterday. Very interesting conference call from GSAT. Took some profits there today but staying long. Asset allocation funds like BX, CG, KKR slowly ripping up whilst paying 10% divies. not much mention of them. how about some talk of the next bubbles anyone?

    FROG.

Thank GOD/Kek for the electoral college. The divide you speak of in the country would be MUCH worse without it. The right and left would be that much further apart and delving into new levels of extremism without it. Thanks to immigration policies in recent times the situation is being compounded as un-Americans are being added to Americans daily in droves and hordes. The FUCKING dynamic is changing. The electoral college saved the country from outright civil war. In those 3 million votes she may or may not have gotten (let’s be honest) how many illegals were in there? And if a rising global populist sentiment is swinging the fucking pendulum back why can’t YOU and millions of other libs just accept that Russian hacking was not required. The people built their own network and the fever spread on its own momentum. It saddens me that you and millions of other libs will look for excuses. As for voter machines?. Don’t ever share anything from Buzzfeed. I had to politely ask Google to stop displaying their “news” every time I opened my app. Just as you loathe Breitbart/Drudge and such I loathe Buzzfeed and your quintessential line up of froth. If it was so easy to hack the machines then your camp would’ve known that and rigged them for her gain as they likely were being that 13 states used buddy guy Soros’ machines. Again it was the POPULIST PEOPLE that won the damn thing as their fingers and pens continued to spread the virus into the machines and onto the ballots. Oh and as for the economy-it’s Bernanke’s not Obama’s. After you’ve come to accept all this we can meet in the middle as you suggested we all need to. Oh.. and if LGBTQ now reads LGBTQP ..I’m out of negotiations. Until then..don’t fall off the left side of the mountain. I’m throwing you the proverbial rope.
