According to the good folks at ReCode, Google, Apple and Disney aren’t interested in buying a Jack in the box that opens up once per quarter to punch you in the face with a $100 million loss.
That leaves the uber talented and woefully deranged Marc Benioff as the last man standing in the hunt to acquire Twitter. The idea of CRM buying TWTR is hateful to CRM shareholders and they’ve expressed their dismay by selling the shares in recent days.
Sources familiar with Disney, which was mulling a possible Twitter purchase last week, say the media giant has decided not to move forward.
Earlier today Recode reported that Google, a logical buyer for Twitter who had also was hired a banker to kick the company’s tires, was not going to bid; Apple is also unlikely. Twitter shares dropped 9 percent in after-hours trading.
For now, that leaves Salesforce as the only potential buyer for Twitter, though the company has never confirmed publicly that it wants to make a deal. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff appeared on CNBC today and refused to comment directly on any interest in Twitter.
With all competing bids gone, look for Benioff, if he’s still interested, to make a takeunder offer — considering the stock is up 37% over the past month. The bankers will justify it by using a 90 day average price, effectively poleaxing all new shareholders of the stock.
Look for Twitter to get ravaged tomorrow.

What’s interesting about all this Twitter takeover chatter is that you haven’t heard much at all about Facebook making a potential play. If Twitter does get bought out by the end of the month, I’m thinking it’ll be Zuck who ends up with them.
Why would he buy it? He already has his own social network that steals information from users. No reason to buy $TWTR
What am I missing here? We are talking about SalesForce.com right? If so, why in the fuck would that company buy a place where people talk shit about each other and post nudes? I think someone has this confused with some other company, no way SalesForce.com would buy something that is not even remotely akin to it unless they are becoming the next Fortune Brands.
CRM and social media are tightly intertwined. Big data and analytics can drive better CRM software but you need tons of real data to make it work. CRM is nervous because MSFT now has LinkedIn, and can now leverage all of LinkedIn’s data to make their CRM systems smarter.
Benioff is the greatest businessman ever. East coast companies could learn alot from west coast hippy liberal leaders like Benioff and Jobs.
dollar up, everything else down. that is reality.
