    Sounds Bullish!

Can’t wait for driverless 18 wheelers myself. Definitely will be no unintended consequences there.Hackers will have a field day plowing them into all kinds of objects, animate and inanimate.

Drivers are nearly half the operating cost of the trucking industry, second to fuel. That’s a customer who might pay-up for the technology to drop cost.

Uber loves its drivers so much, it can’t get rid of them fast enough.

Self-driving cars for the general public would produce a windfall of “me-time” when millions of people are otherwise unoccupied and therefore able to be exposed to the products of Google, Facebook, etc. on wireless devices, paying for data time from Verizon or AT&T.

Driverless cars represent a juicy prize of business opportunity the for the most machiavellian titans of the tech world, who are intent on even more wealth and world domination.

also- A quick look at the Internet says trucking industry revenue is about 700 billion a year.
Drivers and fuel are about 40 percent of revenue. Solar and self-driving tech could get a piece of that 40 percent. Now customers, don’t get too excited. You won’t be paying less, you’ll be paying Musk instead of the middle east and Google or Uber instead of people who drive for you.

      Serious question-
How are you envisioning solar relieves trucking costs?

Solar charging of batteries? Solar powered reefers?

Also, if city buses and Prius cars harness the braking force to charge batteries (to be used to make 0-10 MPH more efficient), why wouldn’t a 16 wheeler braking with a full load make sense?

cascadia- I’m not convinced solar relieves trucking (or auto) costs. I think it is good old salesmanship; or more judgmentally a transfer of wealth.

The titans think big, as they have throughout the history of the USA.

For example- Mr. Zuckerberg seeks wireless internet access for third-world population. This is business growth and gives some the impression Facebook aspires to be a virtual sovereign society/nation.
