Best speech by a candidate for President that I’ve heard since 1980.
+1
Hilarious that the media had a ready to go characterization of his speech as “dark” and “scary.” He literally just described the world as it is.

Wow, that is truly messed up.
BTN
Don’t you want to make America great again?
I’m a firm believer that America is Greater now than it was in the 1950s and ’60s (except for middle- and lower-class white men, of course).
Ban this pos. btn is another frog. A faggot a racist and a fake. Where the fuck do you people come from? Did Hillary use you as a dildo. You are right? A crusty fucking mess.
I am white. I take offense to that statement. You’re racist.
You sound like you are about to cry. Sorry for huirting your feelings.
I have no idea why you are even on a financial blog. True, I reply to political and social posts as well, but that’s ALL you do.
Also, you don’t seem to have the brain power to attack my POSTS, and instead constantly attack the poster while you in friendly territory. Brave man.
That was directed at irontweety, not the fly
To clarify:
1) The wealthy are much better off today than in the 1960s, realtive to the middle- and lower-class. True or False?
2) Women are much better off today than in the 1960s, relative to men. True or False?
3) Minorities are much better off today than in the 1960s. True or False?
So who lost ground? Not the rich, not women, and not minorities.
Ironbird
No need for that sort of reaction. BTN might be insane, but he’s somewhat respectful and doesn’t go around making fun of white men.
Oh wait…
It’s not racist to say that black men commit crimes at a higher rate than others, and it’s not racist to say that white men have lost some of their power over the last 5 years
I meant 50 years.
Getting rid of institutionalized racism is, of course, a great thing. One could argue, very eloquently, that the country started to RUN downhill during the first Bush term, accelerated during Clinton, ran towards neoconism under Bush and has only gotten progressively worse under Obama.
Markets are at new highs, because the profits aren’t made here anymore.
Debt is at 19.4t.
Wages are flat to down.
Home values that are less than $1m haven’t appreciated in years.
This is a ticking time bomb of an economy about to skid off the rails. Do not kid yourself.
Soon the elections will be over and we’ll all get back to hating on the Fed again. This too shall pass.

I know. It’s good to get the other perspective, even if it’s uncomfortable to read for some. I only ban those I truly hate or have proven to be disruptive to the point that normal discourse is no longer necessary.
Gay people rock because they get it. This fake bigotry con is beyond frustrating. Will shut up now. btn go fuck yourself.

NOBODY knows how to solve this problem, but Trump recognizes it more than any other politician in the last 20 years.
Fly, looking at this chart, do you still say the problems started in 1992? Or maybe 1956?
Wars and falling interest rates provided temporary cover.
So I’m not kidding myself: I think I recognize the problem(s) quite clearly, but the solutions evade me.
Anyway, I’m done spamming iBC. I need *some* sleep.
The solutions are incredibly simple.
Eliminate tax loopholes.
Slap onerous duties on foreign goods that do not play fair.
Penalize companies who ship jobs overseas.
Renegotiate trade deals.
Stop the flow of illegal immigration, which in turn will INCREASE wages.
Wait a second. Black Americans are not better off today. Since the 70s, their neighborhoods have been plagued with drugs and crime. This is something that is never, ever addressed, even with a black, arguably American, president.
The problems started with the Bush crime family. You will not change my thinking on this. Since then, we’ve seen a massive globalization and exportation of American jobs, technology and an importation of 3rd world country styled policing of the American people.
The neo cons and dems have given us LESS freedoms, MORE wars, MORE wars, LESS security, LESS domestic infrastructure, MORE debt.
Horrible.
Black people are much, much worse off than they were under Bush.
Blame their “community organizers” that sell their votes to the highest bidder who promptly forget about them.
Obama has been the worst president black people have ever seen and they still love him.
+1 on the drugs and crime, and I would add divorce and/or broken family structure. These things all increased with the great falling away from Christianity in the late 60s and early 70s. At least that’s what it looks like to me. I love this website. Such lively debates here.
That was a great speech by Trump- probably the most realistic, non-cherry coated address ever given by a presidential candidate at a convention in my lifetime. The media sirens of the left will try to spin the speech as being scary and based on a false fantasy of American decline, but I think it almost certainly connected with many millions of viewers who had not previously heard Trump speak at any length- and it is going to resonate deeply because of the voiceless, dreadful feeling that there’s a cancer in the belly of the American nation and that it’s probably metastasized and almost beyond treatment…
You mean the belly of the nation where violent crime rates have fallen nearly 50% since the 90’s and continually under Obama? Or where home builders can’t build houses quick enough to meet demand? Or the one where more illegals have been deported than under earlier administrations? Trade isn’t the main issue. Technology is killing jobs. Fly, not sure where you got the home appreciation data. But it’s wrong. http://www.estateofmindsites.com/subscriber_new/map.php?user_id=1
The only way ISIS can be defeated is with cooperation of douchebag Arab countries. You think they will have any interest in cooperating with TRUMP? America can huff and puff all it wants but it can’t blow ISIS away. The only difference between the US and Europe is that Muslims living here like the NBA and NFL more than ISIS. Piss them off and they won’t be dropping a dime on the guy next door. It’s fuckin’ common sense. But it doesn’t matter, TRUMP has no chance of winning.
Data is bullshit. The only homes appreciating are the high end. I know this for a fact.
Crime is down, but black community isn’t better for it.
Crime is way up the past two years, btw
Show me your facts on home appreciation and violent crime. Mine for the latter were from FBI. I’m sure your perch from Princeton gives you great insight into inner city communities.
The uptick in home building has been fueled by an industry wide lessening of lending standards over the last year and a half, as well as by the expansion of low or no down-payment home lending options like Fannie May’s Homeready and Conventional 97 products. All major lending institutions have added sweeteners to lure prime lending clients, and they are also doing everything they can to loosen lending standards for millenials to boost margins that have been squeezed by year’s of artificially low interest rates. The builders have responded, and that shows in the stats, but this resurgence in home building is not healthy or organically generated by real economic progress.
Interesting analysis. Thanks. But think of all the companies that are benefiting from the home sales. Do you know any unemployed construction workers? One. An always predict doom but our economy is pretty good and better than others.
@traderconfessions
US Home construction heating up definitely helps employment numbers in the short term but we’ve already seen the kind of systemic damage that a massive increase credit risk in mortgages can cause in 08-09. A default wave can start small, but self propagate if home values drop, and more and more mortgagor’s default to avoid going underwater. Big lenders barely survived the last time this happened, and their risk is arguably even more pronounced because most of the big banks have dangerous CRE and energy credit exposure in this space too. I’m happy for the roofers and carpenters who have an easier time during a building boom, but ultimately if that boom is fueled by massive over leveraged and toxic credit instead of a legitimately growing economy, it’s not healthy.
This is an interesting movie to watch; Our Brand Is Crisis (2015 film).
