Thoughts on Melania Trump’s Plagiarized Speech

I wasn’t going to get into this, feeding into a non-topic like the bedraggled microbes on Twitter. But for the sake of having a word and understanding what life is like for bedraggled microbes, I’ll offer my two cents.

melania

1st cent: There is no way, whatsoever, Melania wrote her own speech. The speech was too important to be left to someone who barely speaks english, let alone someone who isn’t a professional speech writer. If we establish the fact this speech wasn’t written by her, then we are led to some interesting plot lines.

2nd cent: Having established cent one as Melania’s main contribution to the speech was looking good in front of a bunch of craven republicans and trying to not sound like Borat, we can only assume her speech writer was purposely trying to make her look bad. He or she knew the media would immediately pounce on this and compare it to Michelle’s speech, no? I mean, come on. So, to me, the bigger story is that there are untrustworthy people working inside of the Trump team. The fact that they said no one would be fired after this gaffe is somewhat predictable for ordinary politicians, always trying to save face. But for Trump, a man who fashions himself as a person who gives zero fucks and tells it like it is, he should be publicly humiliating someone today with a rapid firing and public shaming.

Fly – I don’t get it. Why is it that you like Trump? What about him do you think will make America great again? Apart from the infrastructure spending. I lean conservative in most matters but can’t see how he will bridge any gap.

I really loathe getting into these conversations. In my experience, people rarely can convince one another of political and religious beliefs. That being said, and I don’t want a back and forth on this topic (feel free to discuss with others), the number one reason why I like Trump is because of the people who hate him.

This sums it up for me. I grabbed this when I heard it and posted it to iBC’s youtube channel.

You know what you’re getting from Hillary. Aside from being a contemptible, morally-backwards sack of garbage, she is the definition of business as usual in DC. That hasn’t really been working too well if you don’t already have several million dollars.

Trump could end up being the same, but the fact that he is not a dyed-in-the-wool career politician dependent on others for money represents the best chance of actual change. That could come in the form of a wrecking ball or something more pleasant but these days I’m not sure many care what type of change we get so long as something actually does change.

Are you serious befuddled? Trump’s a dick, no doubt, but Hillary is a sociopath with Progressive ideas which simply don’t work.

    I think it was staged.

Trump is known for planting false flags. The the left is now humiliating an immigrant female and all eyes will be on The Donald and his speech Thursday night.

    100% done on purpose.

Trump campaign knew ahead of time that this would 1) overshadow the fact that Melania isn’t really engaging and just read the speech 2) create endless coverage for Trump and crowd out coverage of Hillary and the protests – similar tactic used during the primaries and 3) be easily defensible because Michelle didn’t write her own speech either and did borrow extensively from others as well.

Trump is like 3 steps ahead of the media at all times. He knows exactly how they will react and plans accordingly. He is, in a word, smart – unlike those that this same Gestapo-Media fool on a daily basis ahemTraderConfessionsahemfrogahem.

Thanks for the props on an otherwise boring day making thousands in the market. I certainly enjoy jousting here but it’s gotten to the point where I’m riding a stallion and you’re on a miniature horse. You want Fly’s semi-intelligent readers to believe that Trump’s campaign purposely humiliated the Oranged One’s hot wife to generate additional media coverage and for the other absurd reasons you list? You are one nutty dude.

    1) She did say that she wrote the speech mostly on her own, early in the day yesterday.

    2) Ordinary politicians would have absolutely fired someone today.

^^ He’s right about the completely dominate coverage of this though, so like usual, it may work out for the Donald

Fly, what I don’t get is why someone with malevolent intent would use an opportunity to make him look bad on something relatively silly like this, unless the “bad apple” is a speechwriter who is only responsible for Melania. Seems like if they had malevolent intent and control over speeches, they’d find a way to feed Trump bad facts or cause him to unknowingly plagiarize a socialist or something. I guess perhaps he/she thought they could get away with it here whereas they couldn’t with more eyes on one of Trump’s speeches.

Not sure what’s more amusing, Trump supporters saying it wasn’t plagiarism or that Trump is so smart that he planned it.

I wonder if Trump’s acceptance speech will be plagiarized from Obama’s acceptance speech? Oh heck he’ll probably speak off the cuff, it’s going to be great, win big, huge.

Someone should have a least checked it for plagiarism. Trump’s organization appears to be badly managed. The speech writer, if there was one, should be fired.

There definitely was a speechwriter. The RNC has come out and said something like “in places, Melania added her own thoughts” to the speech. I’m sure 99% of it was written and she gave them feedback to add an anecdote or two in a couple spots. Someone either was completely incompetent or, as Fly has suggested, did this purposefully.

Of course she didn’t write it. All politicians use speechwriters. My god, the inanity.

Nobody will be fired. There might even be a promotion. A firing offense would require some slight to the Donald’s own ego, not mere plagiarizing or the humiliation of a woman even one who is his wife. I suspect Trump might consider plagiarizing a virtue – borrowing something he can get away with not repaying and all. It is in the art of the deal.

    Make America something something again.

Let me explain this to you all. Trump’s campaign is run by a bunch of amateurs. I guarantee the person assigned to write Melania’s speech was inexperienced and unskilled. I feel sorry for the girl regardless of whether she’s a liar or plagiarizer.

I think what is most noteworthy is the part they chose to leave out:

    Obama:
“that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them. ”

    Trump:
” That you treat people with respect (unless you don’t know them or unless they disagree with you).”
