I have a bearish bet going in Exodus now, my first since shorting oil a few months ago. God willing, this will work out better than that wreck, which cost me over 600 basis points.
Hem and haw all you want about stocks and how you’re making money, trading like some sort of jackass without a clue. Let’s talk about what’s working. I mean, let’s talk about what’s really, really working, ok?
Three things.
- The ark, via TLT
- Gold, via GLD or miners
- Utilities, REITs and other dividend payers
At this time, I am not long REITs. If I was, I’d buy VNQ, capture the 3.2% yield and sit back to watch all of you clowns drown, whilst drinking dirty martinis.
I wish all of you a great 4th of Jooh-lie and hope that you refrain from blowing your fingers off with those chinese firecrackers. Eat plentiful hot dogs and hamburgers, and be sure to drink some swill Budweiser to celebrate the vainglorious nation of US of A. While our politicians are of the reprehensible type, our people are the best. American made, sans cars, stand for quality these days, something that escaped our culture just a decade or so ago. There is a profound movement in this country to support American owned businesses, who employ American workers, and I think it’s great. It’s not XENOPHOBIC to love your country. Sadly, it’s only the people, the silent majority, who seem to care about what happens to the country anymore. Hopefully, this will all change soon.

How can that be possible? Did someone from outer space elect our politicians? Our people must be the best in some very naive way– when we claim to hate our politicians worse than the plague– yet we re-elect 90% of incumbent Congress members.

The people do not elect the best candidate. They elect the chosen candidate of two corrupt parties. Sometimes you’re dense.
Who is holding a gun to their head to make them do that? We will have a viable 3rd party in the coming years. But if people were willing to push it, we could have had one a long time ago.
Plus 63% of eligible voters didn’t even vote in the last Congressional election. It’s apathy like this that makes our political situation what it is.

What a difference a week makes. Everyone thought the world was ending just last week.

I’m old enough to have noticed that a lot of voters are very apathetic and just passively roll over and accept whatever the Powers That Be do politically. And young enough to hope that that might change in the future.

I find myself unwilling to answer that question, since the Internet is the only place where I, or others, can go to discuss ideas purely in terms of the ideas– and not risk being categorized according to age, gender (well, except for me, whose gender has already been revealed), race, socio-economic class etc.
People categorize each other in these ways 24/7/365– and it gets in the way of discussing and understanding ideas. Even maybe knowing each other’s preferred political party gets in the way of understanding one another. If an idea is correct or constructive or useful, it still is, no matter what the characteristics of the person who said it.
“They” don’t allow third parties. “They” the people who run the show do not and will not fund them. Voter turn out has nothing to do with it. You have the same two bums 95% of the time.
“They” wouldn’t fund Bernie or Trump. These two guys are our third party. The fact that “they” will not give either one a penny is your tell.
Since “they” will not fund them, I am voting for them. Anyone who is the enemy of “they” is a friend of mine and yours.
Believe that.

We’re going to get a 3rd party in the next election or 2. I can feel it. You’re right that Bernie and Trump have been appealing to people who desire a 3rd party. The wave of people who want a 3rd party is going to keep growing until it is unstoppable. “They” won’t be able to keep it from happening any longer.
You should look into doing something in the political field. You’d go places.
