“The fear of a January plunge is back,” said Wei. “We haven’t heard anything particular for the decline and it’s strange and surprising that the market is dropping at such a fast and steep rate.”

U.S. futs are off a bit and WTI is trading lower by 3%.

Philosophical question: Does greatness require subjugation?

Of course not. The best greatness is when there is plenty of greatness to go around for all. E.g. democracies vs. feudal economies or kingdoms. That benefits the most people. It’s why the pitchforks came out for Marie Antoinette and such.

There is the dominance/submission pattern that some people or nations follow. But the problem with that is that no one really wants to submit. So people or nations will certainly stab the dominant one in the back, or smash the abusive one’s head in with a frying pan when they’re asleep. And nations and people are far more likely to follow someone’s role model than to follow someone’s orders– at least in the long run.

Although there is always some cooperation and some competition in just about everything, the mostly cooperative paradigm generally works better– . When/if people can cooperate, at least some of the time, rather than ruthlessly competing to their deaths, that often works out better for all.
