The Governor of NY has imposed a travel ban, which means that if you’re found driving a car in New York, police officers–armed with machine guns–have the authority to arrest and toss you into a raping jail cell.
Martial law is in effect, which is inexorably a net negative for the hamburger lovers of NYC.

If MCD decides to offer a SHAK-like burger and fare, SHAK will be toast.
If you are safe in a comfortable home and your only pressing concern is your family, this is nice relaxing time. If you are responsible for something outside or involving the expectations or actions of other people, it’s not so relaxing.
I saw a homeless person’s shape under a single blanket on a bench under shelter a few days ago. Last night during the storm I spotted the same blanket on concrete inside a deep storefront entrance a few blocks away. I can sleep outside in 30 degree weather inside a sleeping bag with a blanket on top. I can’t imagine doing it with just one blanket. Hopefully this person is wearing a coat.
The city offers cold weather shelter, but I don’t think they can force someone to go. You could give a mentally ill person a blanket. They might throw it off and curse you every time they see you again.

Ok so if all the stores are closed and sales are $0 for let’s say a month…..how does that truly affect them in any meaningful mid or long term? What about business interruption insurance?
If markets are truly still efficient there shouldn’t be much of a dip, if any.
So that’s why it dropped like a rock end of day Friday…WS is such a pain in the a$$.
Shake Shak is good but too expensive relative to abundant competition outside of major Metro areas. Most people don’t care if their beef is mixed with short rib.
