Remember when everyone was so freaked out about the ruble crashing and the Russian central bank used currency reserves to prop it up? There were even reports that people were buying iPhones to use them as currency, in a fucked up barter system.
Well, don’t look now (no do look, really you should), but the ruble is completely in the toilet–hitting new lows, hanging out with its good pal crude oil.
All of the petrol currencies are under pressure. This trade is a very simple one: crude lower/rubles lower- Putin goes to war to boost approval ratings.

No kidding, clt. The most brainwashed people are the ones most likely to accuse others of being brainwashed. The U.S. has, of course, started unnecessary wars. And Russia and Putin are even worse. Therefore, Putin is the hero of the neocons, who love to start unnecessary wars.
We would be better off if all the neocons were simply greedy psychopaths, intent on making a lot of money from weapons sales. There are those who do that, and they are indeed dangerous. But the worst of the lot are the aggressive paranoids– the type who explode their family’s whole house to get rid of imaginary monsters under the bed– or who destroy the entire country of Iraq to get rid of imaginary weapons of mass destruction.
