I know you want to discuss stocks. They did great today, up more than 200 and for the first time in a week, I wasn’t tortured at the Catherine Wheel. But, without stability through safety, we can never enjoy market premiums.
So, I am going to broach the subject of Syrian migrants. President Obama wants to take in at least 65,000. Since the Paris attacks, multiple US governors have lined up against it and said they’d refuse their entry into their states. You have to love our founding fathers for setting up the government this way, state’s rights ans all.
Here are the state’s against allowing Syrian migrants into their fiefdoms.
Naturally, Donald Trump chimed in, shaming Germany’s Merkel for allowing zombie hordes into her country. Trump also said, if elected President, he’d expell any Syrian migrants who were allowed in under Obama.
I did a poll on Twitter and asked the question: Should we Allow Syrian Migrants into the U.S.?
Suprinsingly, 38% of you lunatics said yes, even after the Paris attacks. You people are going to kill us all.
To play devils advocate, and also a serious question. How many more terrorists do you think the world would make if they took in no refugees?
Are you suggesting that accepting refugees is a defensive measure? Where have the balls gone. People used to have balls.
It’s not about having balls, it’s about which option is better in the long run. I don’t know which one is. It is a debate that should be had. Anyone is free to take a plane to Syria ( not directly) at any time to fight Isis. It’s a grueling trip to make as a civilian. Plenty of people with large balls have.
For a safer more secure US, Obama should let in 200000 helpless Syrian refugees and ship out the same number of fear mongering, racist NEO CON terrorist creating nutters. .

That invasion of a country for no truthful reason, resulted in killing lots of Middle Easterners, which enraged their friends, relatives and neighbors, some of whom then became ISIS or other terrorists in revenge.

Actually Isis was formed directly as a result of the Iraq war. It was formed by jihadists that were imprisoned in Iraq. If we never invaded Iraq, we wouldn’t have Isis.

I guess I just try and see both sides, and it’s a lose/lose. Coming from a huge military family, we have these discussions a lot. This war has been horrible for my family. It’s way easier to sit at home and armchair it when you don’t have to be involved. We should change the way we vote to go to war too. Members of government and citizens who vote yes throw their name in a hat. If you’re chosen you go, if you can’t then your kids go. I bet we’d all be having deeper discussions than we do now.

Sure, we never would’ve went to Iraq and we likely wouldn’t have an Isis. If Isis did become a thing, Saddam would be fighting them. We backed the Afghans to fight the Russians, and we got a big helping of a strong Al Qaeda from it…… That’s the point I was making from the first post. If we do let the refugees in, we are at risk. If we don’t, how many more terrorists do we create. Every action has a reaction. History has proven for us, at least with the Middle East, these reactions are sometimes worse.
Have a cool Syrian family that runs the liquor store in the hometown. But they are American. Not a fan of the newbies. Sometimes reality is what it is.

If they go through an thorough and proper vetting process beforehand, and have a reasonable set of job skills, then I see no reason why they shouldn’t be let it in. However, we shouldn’t just open the doors to anyone because they’re facing hardships. I apologize if this sounds harsh, but my grandfather came to the US from a war-torn country with literally $4 in a tin box. He had to go through Ellis Island, but he had to wait it out in his home country beforehand. My point is that America has a history of accepting everyone, and at times going beyond what we need to do, which makes us still the “go to” place in the world. However, like the hot spots in SoHo, you either have to be on the list or wait your turn to get into the most desired place. This seems like a very logical solution.
