He’s probably the smartest man in the room that no one is listening to. Everyone is yammering and throwing mashed potatoes at one another, all the while he patiently tries to interject to inform everyone they’re all doomed.
Gundlach said about a rate hike next month that many economists believe will occur: “Certainly No-Go more likely than most people think. These markets are falling apart.” Los Angeles-based DoubleLine oversees $80 billion in assets under management.
Gundlach cited a number of asset classes that are signaling deteriorating conditions: The S&P Leveraged Loan Index, which is at a four-year low, the SPDR Barclays High Yield Bond Exchange-Traded Fund “very near a four-year low” and the CRB Commodity Index at a 13-year low. “You also have the Eurozone doubling down on stimulus. Fed raising rates? Really?”
He doesn’t believe the Fed will raise rates; because like the ruins of Puma Punku, logic does not exist at the Federal Reserve.

How many times are they going to play this same fucking game where they say they might and then don’t?
Short attention spans. Nobody wants to be the one calling their bluff when they finally hike
This is where the economist ability to fictionalize and draw scenarios comes in handy.
Let’s ponder some stories. How do we want it to enfold?
EU/EZ: What are all the factors? It’s as complex as it ever was. How can we help them and help ourselves or are they lost in their believe that they are an island? Do we leave them to their own devices this time? The Germans and the British have always been very good at keeping things organized and at controlling the narrative and I believe that still holds true. What do they need? Money? Maybe it’s too soon. The Fed will not make a move.
Russia: Vlad finally believes it’s time to join the global economy; the community as well, in a big way. Not so isolationist anymore. He’s been lonely for some time now. He’s been making some big moves. He’s obligated as well; and perhaps he’s finally learned how to play with the other kid his size and with his intellectual capacity who isn’t the cousin who played him out of his inheritance. Does Vlad need money? Well, we can’t be patron to Russia and increase the coffers of the EU/EZ so the Fed will not make a move.
The cash is flowing and it could all change very quickly based on actions as nebulous as a promise or as obvious as wink and a slaughter.
