The initial bounce is always in the higher echelon names, larger capped, institutional favorites. I want you to think like a short seller, for the moment. Imagine yourself idle, near the active volcano, staring into the boiling hot magma, hoping the world would drop into it. You’d fantasize over cataclysm and outsized stock market losses, massive unemployment and depression.
But your resources are limited, after years of unemployment and being on the wrong side of the market. The market starts to rally and you begin to feel squeezed. Afraid of losing your volcano side cottage, you begin to reduce your short positions, in the hopes that you will be able to short them higher.
This is called a ‘short squeeze’, an event that takes place when natural buyers meet short covering to create an explosive upside move.
Here are some solid candidates for a short squeeze, sorted by technicals and percent of shares sold short.

At this point, I feel bad for DO shareholders. CRR will never bounce.
To me this Icahn story is better than the one about $X, although they are both funny shit.

Yeah, that’s a funny video too. Taken together the 2 videos illustrate what a funny concept greed is.
People accuse other people of being greedy, mainly when they are unsuccessful at getting as much money as they want. If they are successful at getting the money they seek, they are not labeled greedy. Even if they are getting 600 million dollars for brokering a deal that should not have happened at all– where the case would have been thrown out if the Supreme Court had heard it. Even if they can’t think of a better use for their 600 million dollars, than to spend it all on prostitutes.
Keep in mind Jamail won a jury trial and an appeal to get to the point where he was settling with Icahn, $600 mil was his fee for legal work. Jamail ended up being a big philanthropist in Texas . This story is at least 25 years old. Icahn was bullshitting a fair amount.
Thanks for your comment. I didn’t know about his subsequent philanthropy. I looked him up, now that you gave me the spelling of his name.
