The Dow closed at the lows. We will not break out without bonds collapsing. This relationship between deflation and rising asset prices cannot last. One will cave, either bond bulls or equity longs.

Fly, I realize MBLY has no earnings now, but from its technology and competitive standpoint, it kinda reminds me of the FB IPO (which went from $38 to $17 and then to $75). What’s your take on this?

Equity longs should be the losers here. You don’t want to own companies with fixed wages but falling revenues.
With bonds at least you are just renting out your cash and hopefully your dollar will be worth more when you get it back.
Then again, the world is in such a mess now that logic doesn’t necessary apply.

Of course the end of day sell off could be due to the same reason it is due 95% it does it late on a Friday, because “traders” like us, the froth in the market as opposed to the fund managers and people who drive real money, could do it. 99% of the time its us fools messing with the same 10% or less of the money out there who decry the terrible ways of the market. February will be a month filled with lots of shake & bake Dr Fly
Speaking of going nowhere, how are the rates structured on those supertankers that are being rented to store oil. I would guess that the engines aren’t being used and the chance of sinking in a storm goes way down so that would benefit the rentees but if oil stays low don’t the renters take it in the bilge pretty quickly?
