New Year; Same Market

If you were expecting a new market, with brand new stocked market gains, today you were reintroduced to the torture chamber that is equities. TLT is at new highs and commodities are circling around the toilet bowl again.

It is deflation, gentlemen. Every aspect of your lives is deflating, from your social status, to your adventures at the mall, to your common stock portfolio filled with AAPL. Life, as you know it, is trying to change. But the Federal Reserve and their counterparts abroad are trying to keep the status quo going. They are opposed to a Mad Max world, where human skin is sold on the open market, and cannibalism is considered a legitimate form of sustenance.

When I saw the market +100 this morning, I refrained from celebrating over a nice blog and bottle of champagne. Instead, I waited for the pain and agony to take hold. Now I am here to celebrate, one way or another.

Most of my stocks are lower and the market is doing exactly what it did in 2014.

Surprise and welcome to your funeral.

How long are they going to allow this massacre to continue? Its 100% clear at this point that we need a resumption of QE and this time there should be no discussion of ever stopping it.

We need debt monetization and we need it now. When is gramma Yellen going to get off of her seating pillow and do something about this situation?

I am loathe to even mildly criticize the master but you seem overly gloomy after an hour and a half, Dr. Fly.

We need economic stimulus from a source other than the Federal Reserve.

How about a cash rebate of $3000 to every taxpayer, directly from the Federal Government?

Put it OFF BUDGET, like the Bush Wars!

Would cost maybe $400 billion and be simply tacked on to the Federal debt. So the hell what?
Another $8 billion a year in iterest?

Taxpayers do not get bailouts of that magantude.
Only TBTF banks get the taxpayers money in order to loan the taxpayer his very own money back to him. Higher vig and all. It’s called the circle if clusterfuck.
I like your idea though. Taxpayer bailout paid for by taxpayers. As long as the printing presses are on.. Give it to the taxpayer. Every horseshit metric will increase showing “growth.”

Companies need to stop fucking around with financial engineering and start spending on real research and real production and hiring people to decent jobs.
Until there are more people making good money in secure jobs, and acting like good old fashioned consumers, this recovery is going no-where.

Could not agree more. This so called recovery is a transition from $25.00/hour jobs to the same number of $12.00/ hour jobs with no benies on the side for 95% of the working class.
We can’t all make a living selling ice cream cones and hamburgers to each other……gotta make something that actually creates wealth.
