The S&P is up nearly 4% for the month of August, putting in a fine showing. The last time we had this good a summer finale was in the year 2000.
The following month the S&P was poleaxed by a staggering 10.58%.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

and rates were what? and multiples were….
Saw a fun fact today on twitter today: When $SPX was up >3% in August and at 12-month high, September was up only 1 out of 12 attempts.
The price action leading up to the 2000 crash in the S&P looks nothing like the price action we’re seeing right now. We’re in an upward trend vs. shit volatility back then near the top.
Also these are the numbers I see for AUG and SEPT. Care to enlighten?
We’re talking about the S&P500?
spy 143 to 152 (AUG 2000)
spy 152 to 143 (SEPT 2000)
That’s a good stat BlueStar, but it has little baring on the fact that I will be long GOGO throughout the month of September. Do you plan to get net short on the back of that statistic?
No. Need to see some evidence. Just prepared.
I just don’t see enough companies
with serious size in difficulty to cause that scenerio.
I’m thinking Google +Facebook would have to be poleaxed. There is so much cash on balance sheets these days and
that’s like having a fire department in your basement.
“that’s like having a fire department in your basement.”
…when a 500-year flood comes.
Poleaxed means up, right?
Well they are going up
seasonal shipping?? where is that beard Jennifer – (s)he was dead on last year –
What are those red numbers on my screen? I thought the market only goes up?
Are you suggesting we repeat the 14 year ago situation?
I knew 2000, This is not 2000, Good Morning!
