Janet Yellen Hates Science

She also believed the earth, like many of you bible idiots, is only 6,000 years old.

Biotech and social media stocks are coming under pressure this morning, as the new Fed Chief throws her butterscotched candies at them. In case you’ve been under a rock, the new Fed chief all but endorsed rampant short sales in both social media and biotech stocks. I am sure these same people are feeling their oats now, gawking at their zeroed out account balances thanks to stocks like PBYI and FB.

You have to be a real moron to want to be a Fed chairman. More so, once you get to be the Fed chairman, you have to be a complete imbecile to offer financial advice to stock pickers. Everyone knows the speculator of stocks lines all 9 circles of hell.

That being said, I am enjoying the action in JMEI and have sold out of ANGI. If anyone of you misfits attempts to offer me life lessons on ANGI and how “you told me so,” as God is my witness, I will track you down like the dogs that you are and silence you.

Fly, are you inclined to hold RUBI through earnings?

Also, have you read about all the call options that have been bought for GOGO ahead of earnings?

There is NOTHING in science that contradicts the Bible. Since Genesis begins before there is an earth, then how did one measure a ‘day’? A day is sunrise to sunset, but Genesis begins with no sun, no earth. Additionally the idea that the Universe was ‘created’ was mocked by science for thousands of years. It was only until the discovery of the Big Bang in the early 1900’s that humankind realized there even WAS a beginning to the Universe.

Much like other people of our day. The Old Testament is the one that rules our country. Listen to any of these Bible thumpers and you will hear Old Testament ideas.

Regardless, they need to know that it is based on what we would call today ‘mythology’.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

I see your point Yoshi, but look further

        Genesis
10 And G-D called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas; and God saw that it was good….
13 And there was evening and there was morning, a THIRD DAY.

So the earth is not finished until the end of the second ‘Day’ – so how long (before there was an earth) a single day.

Moreover, I believe completely in the big bang and evolution and see NO contradiction. In fact Einstein’s theory of general relativity gravity particularly as it relates to geometric property of space and time shows that the concept of time itself changes depending on speed and gravity.

If the entire universe were the size of a pinhead, as I believe it was, then the gravity was so enormous as to be like a gigantic super black hole, where time itself would practically come to a stop. In this case as well, how long would a ‘day’ last? additionally consider it says in Psalm 90:4
” For a thousand years in Thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past,
and as a watch in the night.”

Evolution and Genesis don’t mix. If there was no “first” man (as debunked by evolution), then there was no original sin. No original sin, no reason for a savior. No savior, no Jesus. No Jesus, and Christianity falls apart at the seams.

A good point Jules, but then how do you explain Hubble’s law? (in other words why does the velocity of galaxies receeding away increase as it is further from earth)? The idea of a static universe is no longer accepted by contemporary astronomers. Indeed the universe is now known to be an incredibly active, dynamic place with constant collisions, supernovae etc. It only SEEMS calm to us because our time scale as humans is so puny.

        Arrr.

Hubble’s Law is an argument in support of the Big Bang theory, not the other way around. As it stands today, the Big Bang is NOT scientific fact rather a scientific theory. Therefore, since we can not prove that there was ‘in fact’ a beginning of the universe anyone promoting an ancient text with said theory as a proof is incorrect.

That ‘text’ has a LOT of wisdom in it, however I wasn’t citing the text, rather the likelihood of a big bang which an overwhelming number of Astronomers & scientists believe based on observation.

Thomas Aquinas said there must be an ‘unmoved mover’ which started the Universe, Einstein said “the more I study the universe, the more I believe in a higher power”
Jules, if you see a design in the Universe, there MUST have been a designer, no?

Fly- I was just thinking that this is around the anniversary time of one of the most classic iBC posts of all time. It turns out it’s actually the exact anniversary of the post so naively titled “Welcome to Your New Lifestyle,” by the legendary Jason Treu. To my dismay, and probably to yours as well, the post seems to have disappeared into the Interweb ether. Is it gone forever?

Not to mention GILD absolutely crushed their Rev and EPS estimates. Their Hepatitis C drug is priced at absurd levels, yet it’s extremely effective. Grandma Yellen was probably unaware of this due to her virgin status
