PANIC OVER–Heading Higher Again

See, we’re bouncing here. Not all stocks are up today, but a solid 50% are moving in the right direction. Notice how I had the gaul to say “right direction”, referring to stocks moving higher? Like time, the natural order of the stock market is for it to appreciate. I never quite understood the mindset of a bear, betting against commerce in a world whose population has done nothing but increase for the last 100,000 years plus. While there might be periods of ‘adjustment’ and panic, it’s just ridiculous and silly, almost juvenile, to be a long term short seller.

That being said, I should have put money to work before yesterday’s close and certainly this morning–but I’ve been busy. After this post, I will look to make a few purchases.

Favorite phrase of bears / skeptics:

“I’m staying away from these “X” until this market gives us a clear signal.”

Oh pray tell me what those clear signals are. New highs? Let’s pay up 50% ok?

Jon, not sure who you are quoting, but I was referring to staying away from high flying social media stocks like ANGI, YELP, etc. they are doing poorly today. waiting to see if this bounce has conviction.

And the gold stocks keep chugging along.
Late July has traditionally been a breakout time, but I guess they are a bit early.
The quality of the advance depended on the bounces from 1 day hits and they responded well plus the OBV (Ole’ man Granville indicator) looks real good.

Isn’t Gold/Silver a play on instability? I own Call on SLW.

More of a play on liquidity sloshing around and negative interest rates world wide.
The hype is of course on the instability, but the reality is it never lasts as long as the liquidity and interest rate factor.
Now one is starting to see stuff like FCX,NEM move on copper anticipation.

Glad (so far) I didn’t get sucked into the bears gloom and doom about how Chinese real estate is crashing so I shouldn’t buy LEJU. Bought yesterday.

Fact is they have only 1.2% penetration rate of the entire housing market using their coupon services. They have a partnership with BIDU and SINA and Tencent (Weixin / Weibo) and will be launching an exclusive co branded site with Zillow soon.

Oh and did I mention it trades at an insane 14 times this year’s earnings estimates which are below what they guided a month ago? And an eye popping bubblish 2.7X sales. And they’re growing 55% this year.

    Hey Fly,
Started following recently, but have never posted. Something though just got my attention.

Twice now in the last two days I’ve had someone mention a startup semiconductor play named Poet Technologies (PTK on the Vulture). Consolidating today. Anyway, did some DD. Apparently breaking on news of bringing on CEO from semiconductor giant Global Foundries, and completion of the final development nail before monetization. One of the few green in past couple days (+9% each day – up over 400% in past year, yet still appears bargain basement cheap). Termed ‘disruptive’ as apparently it’s the new alternative to Silicon and has demonstrated 100X clock speed improvement, with lower power consumption of 10X, all at a fraction of the cost. Buddy-mad-scientist Dr Geoff Taylor has been working it for the past 30 years! (huh?!) Also can be manufactured on existing CMOS silicon foundries with no retrofitting required. Claim to have capability that can be applied to virtually any technical application, including memory, digital/mobile, sensor/laser and electro-optical, among many others. Seriously?! In fact I started panting when I read that apparently I’ll only have to recharge my cell phone once every ten days vs every day, with potentially a whole lot more functionality, and to be had at a substantially lower cost (unless the dogs keep the profit for themselves).

Question – is it possible that a CEO with the second largest semiconductor co in the world would make this kind of jump to a startup without it being the real deal?!

Fyi, http://www.poet-technologies.com and a worthwhile PP overview from earlier this year http://poet-technologies.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/POET-Technologies-Corporate-Overview.pdf (since, seems to have been BoD changes and completion of their tech milestones).

Thanks for what you do Fly.

I’ve read 200k births per day and an overall population increase of 80-120 million per year or 1 billion every 10 years … humans breeding like uncontrolled & out of control vermin .. there will be a tipping point & we are quickly getting there as witnessed by primeval-like storms .. don’t mean to get all Marc Faber on ya but overpopulation is this worlds number one problem
