A few years back I demonstrated, using a spec account, how I used The PPT‘s algorithms in trading a $100k account into a million, in less than a year. I was using leverage, options, and 3x ETFs. Truth be told, I haven’t been trading ETFs in more than a year, for reasons unbeknownst to me.
2013 has been a great year for the buy and hold types. But it’s not always gonna be this easy. The very best part of The PPT is the Hybrid Oversold signal. To sum it up in layman’s terms, the oversold/overbought signals measure stress points and predicts areas of exact inflection– using fundamentals, technicals, bonds, forex and commodity inputs. The scores are processed and a reading is given, using history as a reference point. My theory, from the beginning, was that markets always behave in the same manner. The bubbles and swoons might have different labels, but the price action is the same. I’ve proven this to be true, at an 80% accuracy rate, ever since we launched The PPT in 2008.
Using only the Hybrid OS signal, TNA as a vehicle, and a holding period of 10 days, you would have made over 100% on your money during 2013. This is an especially good number because risk is considerably less than simply buying and holding. An investor would’ve made just 10 buys/ 9 sales (TNA buy is active since 12/11), being exposed to the market for no more than 100 days.
$10k to $21k in one year, with less than 100 days invested.

Pretty nifty
Truly the ultimate KISS method. Impressive. how something so simple can be powerful.
fig.
Why 10 days? What about selling when TNA is deemed hybrid ‘OB’ instead?
Drake sucks
10 days is the time we track for oversold and overbought cycles, basically two trading weeks. The line needed to be drawn somewhere. If I used os to Ob, the holding period could last for months.
Just wondering; holding for months kills those leveraged beasts I assume…
100%
Awesome post. In a sea of noise, as the trading seems to be at times, this is truly intriguing. The funny thing is after getting to know all of you over the last few months I believe it. Can’t wait to learn more about, and take advantage of, this system. Very impressive.
Thanks.
It’s not an opinion or a pitch. These are facts, based off the readings.
Since 2008, the OS signal has registered an 80% win rate.
Off the particular topic here but if you get John Mauldin’s news letter there is some interesting reading there regarding shippers and German bank(sters)
I hate to be a buzz kill but I remember getting fucked with this system in 2012. I tried to block it out of my memory but RC may be able to attest.
That system you are referring to worked fine. You caught it at a bad time. This one is completely different. Hold periods are 10 days flat, win or lose.
Timing is everything at 100%.
As another former PPT member who remembers getting killed in 2012, I am curious what the numbers look like if you run the updated plan for both 2011 and 2012 which were very different markets than the market of 2013 that can only go higher.
The 36 month oversold stats are 80% win rate. 2012 was choppy and the oversold conditions persisted long enough to cause decay with the trip etfs. This utilizes the ppt algo, but adds the safety net of time to regulate extessential events.
Not ever a PPT member but I must say, things like this are tools to go along with some work. I think hattery or raul had a post a bit back about using the PPT combined with some trend lines could be used to make a killing. Gotta know the market. Here’s an example of a good strategy using the PPT for this year. Buy SPY when it is oversold and add with each subsequent oversold signal. It is important to know the underlying nature of the market and maybe use the PPT for entries or for scans.
More impressive when you see that buy and hold for the whole year yields about the same results.
In case that gets taken the wrong way. I mean the same results holding only 100 days as when you hold 365. Less risk, optimum results
No, I get it and I knew the buy and hold results.
the fly
Can u loan me tree fiddy?
At any rate, I’ll be using this program in 2014.
Fly,
I’m assuming with these stats a stop is not being used. If true, and your using a 10 day hold period, how do you position size correctly if no stop(to measure risk) is being used?
Very interesting, I shall be giving PPT a month’s trial.
or ..if I put 10k into nflx on jan 1, it would be 50,705k today..jazz 29,072…cheers
here comes a $TWTR 17000% gain story
You know that now, but on Jan. 1 2013 you didn’t know shizzle about NFLX or JAZZ
Fly, When do you buy/sell? Buy on the open after posting a closing oversold signal. Sell on the open of the eleventh day of hold, Is this correct?
Sooooo, what about TZA? When you sell TNA does the PPT pinpoint an OB condition so you can play TZA?
I am confused. On 1/2, 4/10, 4/23 and 5/3 didn’t the Hybrid register an overbought signal and not an oversold signal? I believe that first oversold signal of the year was 6/24. What am I missing?
Yes, 1/2, 4/10, 4/23, and 5/3 are all overbought hybrid readings, this analysis of a gain makes no sense, who can explain this?????????
