The good news is Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing. Therefore, war is not imminent. I believe he is trying to worm his way out of the whole mess, by blaming congress for being ‘cowards.’
The bad news is uncertainty will plague the markets for the next week, until congress votes down Obama’s war.
I expect a lift on Tuesday, only to be checked later by people who are afraid to hold through the congressional war vote.
In other words, these stupid bastards will hold the market hostage for the next two weeks.

On a more serious note, i am completely shocked at the utter level of incompetent Obama has shown in handling this hole thing. They should have attacked without even a hint of warning, in the middle of the night, when their red line was crossed.
Congress is now going to take the opportunity to embarrass Obama, as they never like to miss the chance. This is one of the biggest foreign policy blunders in the modern era, as far as I’m concerned.
But, I went long big into the close on Friday, and i think I will be richly rewarded on Tuesday. There is a bit of uncertainty but the dominant trade at this point is probably going to be the “no attack” trade. I suspect we run into the fed meeting in mid-september.

The mistake was having the hubris to draw a red line and then actually believing that line wouldn’t be tested.
He’s not changing his mind, he’s looking for a way to vote “present”.
He’ll say, “Well, I really, really wanted to bomb the shit out of Assad but alas, the American people by way of their voice in Congress do not want this to happen. So I guess that’s that, then. As you were.”

It’s good when it comes to Iran and their nuclear program.
I believe first that the red line was marginally stupid.
Second, if you draw a red line, as president of the united states you act decisively and swiftly and with surprise when that line is crossed.
In this case, he bungled the appropriate response given his red line, which was to be swift and devastating. Since he fucked that up nearly from the get-go, finding this “out” was not the worst political move in the world. Given where he had gotten himself, its the best decision of a horrible selection.
Still, he has acted as an amateur and he has damaged the status of the united states in the process. Sometimes its better to be wrong and act decisively than it is to be both wrong and wobbly.
I am referring to Netanyahu’s red line with Iran and the bomb.
