Bring them in. You know this isn’t going to stick. Everything you’ve come to know is meaningless. The market runs on nuclear vapors (extra USU) and no matter how dire the situation may appear, it rises again and again and again. It’s the relentlessness of the ascent that boggles the mind, causing us to run for cover at the first sight of panic.
Fear is the most powerful emotion of the human anatomy. It makes us do things we thought we never would. In this case, the fear is decidedly on the side of the short seller, the guy who knows what true carnage is–because he’s been a party to its baseness for the better part of 4 years.
The Nasdaq is down a point, YELP is hitting new highs, and I am cowering in the shadows like a eunuch witnessing a man speed chopping carrots atop a table with his penis on it.
I am begging you, all of the gods (old and the new), bring down this market, to its knees, and I will buy it all. Sadly, my prayers are often ignored in this regard.
It’s time to start buying stocks again.

Is it the Sham Wow guy with the Speed Chopper?

And by the way please try to limit the use of the words “penis” and “testicle” (you have been using them quite a bit lately- especially with the word “chop”).
My inguinal hernia would appreciate it.
Thanks.
You’ll get it Monday
If fear IS the most powerful emotion of the human anatomy then the addition of ‘lust’ and ‘greed’ would make a perfect triangle.
You just described Davian.
Get ready for fiscal policy to be in charge again rather than monetary policy…
Why did 0bama give Ben the boot? Because interest rates are a big cause for concern for pension funds, especially in a time when Detroit can’t afford their huge pensions. Also, Obama loves an excuse to spend and raise revenue, so he wants a fed chair who has his back and encourages govt spending to “stimulate” the economy rather than stimulating through low interest rates and QE and POMO. Of course, low taxes is supposed to be done to stimulate via fiscal policy, but it won’t happen with Obama in office.
What does this mean for markets? Probably volatility as a huge shift in policy takes place, higher interest rates, and a shift out of bonds as the principal is reduced and into corporate paper and dividend paying stocks long term, with high risks of much higher volatility than we have seen lately.
Just my take, but my hunch is that Summers will be the next fed chair.
Great read

Gothem’s black millionaire nickname “Prince of darkness”
Now I know where they got the idea for “Batman”.
Now if I could just figure out why there is no record of this guy mentioned on the Internet since before 2006, and the NYT seems to be one of the only mentions aside from that… meanwhile the article doesn’t cite any sources specifically.
He could a story like this have ever been ignored or removed from history for so long?!
Actually it’s only listed as “2006” because an article in NYT was posted on that date, but links on the side were updated… It’s actually the only NYT story on this guy other than this one….

Robert Reed Church Sr. (1839-1912), businessman, philanthropist, community leader, political leader, and father of African American activist Mary Church Terrell (1863-1954), is often recognized as America’s first black millionaire, or at least the first black millionaire from the South (a distinction that I assume would have been next to impossible to achieve before the Civil War, in which he was wounded, incidentally) and one of the nation’s most successful African American businessmen.
CJ Walker AKA Sarah Breedlove alleged first African American self made millionaire.

Soooo.. Why are these people recognized while J Hamilton isn’t?
This link goes to a book written in 1858, where it mentions Jeremiah G Hamilton as a plaintiff against Vanderbilt. Page 318.
