Shares of USU skyrocketed today. I didn’t even bother looking at the news. All I had to see was the number of shares in its float and I knew why it went up. It’s a very tricky thing to be long stocks with thin floats. You need an ‘event’ that can provide you with the liquidity needed to get out at a handsome profit. Often times, when taking 7 fig positions in illiquid, low float names, the ‘event’ can be you taking the damned position, so you need another one.

Now if you’re buying into an already hot sector, there’s a good chance ‘bargain shoppers’ will get around to your name, bid it up, flag it on message boards, putting it to the top of the most % up list for the day. When that occurs, snowballs turn into avalanches and USU happens.
On the other hand, if you want to be really early in a name, buy into it when the sector is icy cold, or following an earnings shortfall. You will have to wait at least 3 months to get paid, but the reward can be bountiful.

EGLE is a stock from the underworld. I have owned it on 4 occasions. It has left me virtually eviscerated, having ragged dolled me, on one occasion from a 3x gain to a wimpering mess of a 70% ass raping. I win own it again, shortly. I am not particularly proud of this.
Theres no one to blame but yourself on that one Mr. Muktuk. Anyone who lets a 3 bagger come back to even, let alone a 70% loss, was blinded by greed and unable to properly assess any kind of risk/reward. Good luck with the next go around

yikes. well i’m about to start a 2 day trial, but I look forward to going over this list hopefully beginning late Thursday. I hate to rely on making my fortune on the always ‘soon to be flying’ shippers, although we’ll see where Brent and WTI lead us over the next week. seems like a decent bit of China plays which always bring me back to my last Chinese disaster – some time ago though – CHGS. Was a rare earth play and rode them while they were hot -but I believe the CEO committed hari kari (realizing that this is normally a Japanese ritual) when a buyout was voted down. If ever a sign to sell. Swear it was CHGS. Anyhow, looking forward to purveying these tickers. Would add UCP here- I’m looking for a run if she’s bottomed.
