Nibbling on the Farmer

I bought about 10,000 shares of LNN towards the end of the session. I intend to buy more, hopefully lower, based upon the resolve of mother nature to fuck the farmer. His disaster is my boon. Brace yourself for a most horrendous corn yield, pitting Americans against each other in armed combat for sustenance.

Although I am exceedingly optimistic about the prospects of a bounce in the near term, I have very little desire to bet big, especially due to personal circumstances, as I am in the process of moving to a new manour.

In case you didn’t know, the global growth story is 100% dead. US growth is spiraling lower. We need more QE. Without it, I’m afraid, this market is heading significantly lower.

In the meantime, I will play it light and easy, using algorithms and short term trades to guide my hand.

Probably won’t do any good if it does rain in most parts of the country. Corn tassels/pollinates the end of June through mid July in most parts of the corn belt. No rain = stressed plants = low yield = stratospheric prices for the commodity itself. Even if it rained all over today, the US harvest would be at least 20% below normal. Give it another 10 days without a major rain moving through the majority of the corn belt and you have the makings of near total crop failure. The guys with irrigated land are buying wagons to haul cash to the bank.

Thanks for insight LeFly.

Reminds me of my oil plays in $D back when Katrina hit.

That was my first time riding the magic BOT machine of cashola.

Fundamentals are the crux of making money. No doubt.

I think even with QE we don’t spike much.

The EU basically did another version of QE two weeks ago and stocks barely blinked. We got one big Friday out of it.

I think we trend lower either way. QE3 might give us another sugar high but it should be faded IMO.

I picked up some BG today. I like the ag sector as well Dr. Fly. We may have to wait a bit to reap obscene profits though.
