The concept of someone political giving a good name to someone or something is a new one. Politics seems to be only about mud slinging.
Perhaps in time we will all come to our senses and look for competent trustworthy people to run for political office– instead of passively accepting the ballot we are handed, as if it is something worth looking at.

Gold and silver often go along with the indexes, since they are in party liquidity plays. There may be liquidity problems in the market right now, due to European problems.
Also, MF Global’s demise may have caused some futures traders to cash out a lot of stuff and withdraw their money. MF took money out of customer’s segregated accounts– which is against the law, even in bankruptcy, but they did it anyway. So other people may have started thinking “Is my futures broker going to do this to me too?”
