In light of today’s intra-day “fuck you, you’re dead” trading, I took time out of my vacation to sell out half of my equity holdings. I sold my largest position, EMN, as well as CLF and KBH. With DECK spiraling lower here, on no fucking news, my appetite for equity is little to none. Earlier on I was tempted to go long Sept calls in DECK and maybe a bit more WNR. However, I am going to respect The PPT here and opt out of any shopping sprees, in exchange for cash.
My cash position is now 50%.
UPDATE: I bought a TZA stock/call position as a hedge.

Anyone super tech-y here with thoughts on VHC?
I read the Wedge stuff today, (Wedge believes that VHC is an acquisition candidate for either Intel or Symantec …due to patent infringements etc.. ..Analyst says in addition to a plethora of patents that they hold, VHC offers a one click download of VPN security to make every connected network secure. He believes this is now the de facto standard and is designed into all 4 networks for secure next-gen VPN (3g & 4g wireless). that everyone is infringing on their IP and this is highlighted in Microsoft having settled with them already last year. )
Obviously stock gets bounced up and down on any given week due to take out rumors, but i mean the patent stuff.. i haven’t read a lot of reports on VHC yet.. will look into..

President Hugo Chavez announced Wednesday that he will nationalize Venezuela’s gold industry in a bid to apparently benefit from gold’s phenomenal gains, according to state-run AVN news agency. And why not? He’s already nationalized several industries, including oil and telecommunications.
His decision comes at time when gold’s at a record high. December gold GC1Z ended Wednesday’s session at $1,793.80 an ounce. Gold prices have gained more than 25% year to date as investors scramble to find less risky investments.
And Venezuela has lots of gold – about $12 billion to $13 billion dollars in gold reserves, according to Chavez, who also said his country “can’t allow it to continue to be taken.”
Chavez has also made it clear that he’s not taking chances. The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, that Venezuela plans to transfer tons of gold from European banks as well as billions of dollars in cash reserves from banks in Russia, China and Brazil to its central bank vaults.
Prolly means a top is in for now. I’m sure they’ll wait til he repatriates all his gold and then ream the price on him.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) – A Senate Republican on Wednesday asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to respond to allegations that the agency may have destroyed documents and compromised enforcement cases involving activity at big banks and hedge funds. “From what I’ve seen, it looks as if the SEC might have sanctioned some level of case-related document destruction,” said Sen. Chuck Grassley, Republican of Iowa, in a letter to the agency. Grassley said he recently received a letter arguing that the agency staff “destroyed over 9,000 files related to matters under investigation.” The letter claims that the SEC allegedly destroyed files related to matters under investigation in important cases such as Bernard Madoff and a $50 billion Ponzi scheme he operated as well as an investigation involving Goldman Sachs trading in credit default swaps in 2009. An SEC spokesman did not return a request for comment.
