Seriously, the market is indecisive ahead of tomorrow’s numbers, I put some money to work this morning, buying beaten down former winners: OPEN and LOGI. Both of them are heavily shorted and yet offer better than average risk/reward ratios, providing they can hit said EPS targets. I needed to add non-basic material names, so I went with those two. I am tempted to buy GDI; but I rather keep some cash reserves in the event the market vomits on itself tomorrow.
To sum up my market call, I believe we will be at least 2% higher by Tuesday of next week.

So I guess it’s a stupid question – PPT will close OS and we still have QE2 – so a higher market in the coming days makes sense, from wherever we bottom – but I am still concerned about the debt ceiling. And I can’t help but wonder what your take is on it.

DE CMI CAT and MOS POT are all outperforming today. Between China, Europe, and US –almost no one is experiencing good crop weather.China and France are experiencing major droughts, and tornadoes are blowing all of our CMG condiments away. Good chance the tractor/fertilizer space has seen lows for year.
I was tempted to buy DE or LNN. But it simply is not the time of year to by ag. I will wait.
Pana…I was reading an interesting article about 1am last night, guess I am one of Fly’s Nerds, lol, Anyway, A LOT of China’s Drought problems are coming from a combination of weather AND this massive “Jewel of China” Hydro Electric Plant that Dammed the water. China has a lot more of these Dams planned for the creation of energy. I was thinking about the fact that there could be a lot of grassroot protest (bad pun) if the Chinese pesents realize that they are starving because the rich want cheap electric energy? Lot of the planting season is done at the moment I believe with Monsoons coming….I wonder in my little nerd way, if all of these Dam Projects will go the way of their High Speed Bullet Trains? Mainly China Govt has great ideas on paper but in the real life no one uses it or it just messes up everything once it is built?
yep Fly is right…China’s Wheat, Corn planting is done…and soybean is just wrapping up.
China has waaay more high-speed trains than the rest of the world COMBINED. Also, they are actually experiencing a drought.
