Interesting disposition you have with your WNR bet. After all the ups and downs I’ve had with trading, I’ve realized every trade thesis is suspect and I will never hold allegiance to any thesis if it is costing me money. Now I realize trading is really a game with one’s self. Making money is purely a byproduct of excellent discipline. The need to hold on to a thesis is a need to be proven right. I have personally experienced how the need to be proven right is very costly at times.

Well, when one holds a thesis, I suppose one needs some exit criteria, just as with any other trade– to know under what circumstances will one consider one’s trade/thesis to have gone wrong and thus to exit with a loss. Just as one needs targets for exiting with a gain.
Since it’s my first post and Fly’s birthday, I’ll try to make a contribution – in the form of a question… people will have different answers, and each answer is a present. Do your high conviction trades/picks produce better returns than the normal/”take-it-or-leave-it” trades/picks?

Let me add a little comment regarding your weiner. Frontline who is one of the largest international shippers just reported an 81% drop in earnings versus 1st Q 2010. They blamed most of it on boatloads of oil that has nowhere to go.
According to them crude tanker shipments have completly collapsed by about 90% versus 2008 because there is so much fucking oil sitting around.
WNR is a good company but food for thought.
