Maybe I don’t have enough info and don’t know enough about the Libyan crap. but from I understand Colonel Gad basically is in control of the Tripoli metro area and that’s it.
He and his henchmen can’t last long because they won’t have enough food to keep going if the rest of the country has gone to the rebels, so it’s only a matter of time before he blows outta there , I think. Am i wrong?

Don’t know, but I’m afraid it’ll turn into long-lasting civil war, maybe sort of guerrilla fighting. After all he didn’t hesitate to use armed force against his own people, and now, after the West has basically confiscated his wealth, he is a cornered rat. And that’s dangerous.
I read reports that he actually has the Western areas of the country, has gained some strategic advantage. I don’t know about situation with the food supplies for his troops, but on the other hand it is reported that the rebels don’t have much arms supplies for a continued fighting. I guess an armed man can always procure food at an other’s expense. The rebels’ in this case.
What this might lead to is a military invasion, UN council games, etc., in other words much uncertainty, which will keep the oil prices high for some extended period of time, and, therefore, continued oil shock to the economies. Flight of capital to emerging oil-exporting countries e.g. Russia?
