You get my drift. Medical stocks, across the board, are higher today, as if the government will allow unlimited profit margins. I realize 32 million people will be inserted into the system. However, I have to believe there will be some constraints or caps on profit margins. Although I do not understand the true essence of the health care bill, I know enough about government to know they could give two fucks and a gay goat about shareholder value. If I was long any of these names, sans solid wholesalers, I’d book the gains. Within wholesalers, I like AmerisourceBergen Corp. [[ABC]] and McKesson Corporation [[MCK]] , based upon the prospect of much higher drug volumes.

It goes with the section of the bill that gives the IRS 4% of the profits of the sale of YOUR home.
Thought you would like to know.
How about the part where the IRS has direct, electronic access to your bank account?
I though you said I’m alright Spider.

Ban the Fly for talking about healthcare reform (political) and wrapping it in the PPT hybrid scoring
fig
Very nice analysis, Dr Fly
I tend to believe Karl (blue blazer) has this close to dead on the money as to what will eventually happen.
Paradoxical market? America spending into oblivion is good for business? Reason being, market considers it safer to lend to Buffett, while every other nation is a risk anyways. Sovergin investors and governments around the world now start loaning to Buffett, and eventually Buffett turns around and invests back into american stocks? Could this be possible?
Denninger’s info about US government putting debt into oblivion to the point where every $1 of debt = less than a dollar return… seems like market is on a very strange path now.
Maybe one day, the next bail out plan will be funded by Berkshire?
Dont trust banks with my money use burnable credit cards

Its a falla@cy that berkshire bonds were trading at lower yields than treasuries. Small spreads, yes, but still spreads. Always remember that the media in the us is insane.
Health care stocks are up today… banking coin off of congress… insurance is more directly fkd with, as is managed care or facilities… so drug and device cos are the play?
Prozac and valium for all!
Enndinger is a bit of a bearshitter, so I am skeptical …
However I am drunk, as I sold a biz for absurd multiple in oct ’08 and am 4x my cash since then (bet 2/3 on insurance and bdcs mar 2 thru mar 15 ’09, was down a fair bit at that point…). Not a whole lot to do but sell at 1 yr + 1 day and not panic.
Industry tends to survive… health care is a big one, the dems will lose in nov, … gun to head kd won’t be right…
Holy scheiss, you got out of the pan at the very last second.
The “Top” of the private company M&A market was the previous August. Guy I know got 14x for a bidness that might — if it stretched — get 6x today.
The debt you ask (yes it was a PE firm out of Cally, a leveraged deal) ?
Put on at 7x. Lol.
_____
14x reportable earnings or 14x ebitda? The latter is extreme for a private sale, the former would be write home to mom…
it was nip and tuck to get our deal(s) done before the aquiring co put a moratorium on aquisitions. We were to this day their last purchase. Deal closed post lehman giving us a shot at averaging into the wall street carnage… were still down 25% march 9. Fortunate timing.
We would be worth maybe half today, maybe
So… am home now, sobered up, and cooking fish for half the kids in the neighborhood, who seem to be at my place. May have to have a drink to fortunate timing later… tell your friend cheers
Funny. I had no idea that was the case when I exercised options at my former employer and made 378.26% in 5 months ending 6/07. Private equity recap/take out. Delicious!

Will Fat Lying Pig Limbaugh and his sycophants “Defeat the bastards”?
Will they be able to “Wipe them out!”? Stay tuned. I don’t think so.
Meanwhile, the Rushees and Beckees were not to happy with today’s rally.
I was. This is NOT a political message.
Off the HC subject here but what do you guys think of RTK about now. I know a lot of farmers in this area cut back on their anhydrous ammonia application last year because everything about farming stunk to high heaven then. It’s not much better now but they can’t keep fudging on their fertilizer amounts without paying the price down the road and they all know it. Any blips coming up on this company?
some guy on the street, bumming change told me
“if oil say 78, then we c 67
otherwise 90, baby”
I was like what?
Agreud with Fly’s post: I had to fill a prescription in the US while away from Soviet Canuckistan last month and paid five times the home price, and this at a low budg pharmacy for a run of the mill pharmaceutical.
The MD bill was only double – do good night big pharma.
Drugs not for flaps, by the way – he is still strong like William Wallace, and they will never take his FREEDOM!!!!
They lie! There are not 32 million uninsured – maybe 12 million. Dr. Marc Faber says it is possible for US government debt to require 50% of all taxes collected to pay the interest within 10 years. Of course, there would be chaos before that situation.
Nice post, thanks for writing!
