I am making a killing in Jarden Corporation [[JAH]] today. Getting long before earnings is always a gamble; but this was one of those low risk plays. Reason being: before JAH reported, I got to see how many retailers, in the same space, were doing. Companies like Whirlpool Corporation [[WHR]] and The Black & Decker Corporation [[BDK]] did okay. Moreover, apparently, the retards at Sears Holdings Corporation [[SHLD]] are not imploding anymore. So it made sense to buy into JAH, based upon the resurrection of the dead consumer.
Yesterday’s balls on the kitchen table, while cutting carrots, expedition into a black market paid off in spades today. I must admit, it was pretty scary, buying POSCO (ADR) [[PKX]] , Aracruz Celulose SA (ADR) [[ARA]] , Equinix, Inc. [[EQIX]] , Corning Incorporated [[GLW]] and Ciena Corporation [[CIEN]] into the teeth of the decline. However, my guiding light, The PPT (aka a sublime harmony of mathematical precision) has nailed just about every short term selling climax, since I invented the damn thing.

Sector rotation BS? INTC is set to blow the barnyards off again and these morons are trading at 19 … With the win7 upgrade cycle and the consumer tech trazy (sic), seems like another no brainer like NTRI …

As the PPT comes down from above 3.0, Fly should start posting DevilDog alerts. When I was working for a retail money management firm we used to have this guy call for some verbal reassurance every time the market went down. Within a day or two of this guy calling the market would bottom. During mini panics like we’ve had the past few days we’d literally sit by the phone waiting for this guy to call so we would know that the bottom was close at hand. I don’t think he ever knew that he was our talisman for market bottoms. Some people never get it.
As I built my cash level up to 70%, I put together two lists; one list of inverse etf’s and another list of individual long stock candidates. The only inverse etf to hit my buy zone was RWM. I put 4% of my now unlevered portfolio into RWM between $47.86 and $47.88. The move to $49+ by RWM allowed me to set 1/2 of the position at a stop of break-even and the other half at a stop of $45 (~6% loss and twice a zone of support). I buy long stock on reversals up so I put quite a bit of cash to work on the long side today. Buying on the reversal up allows me to set a stop at the preceding low. Now it’s a matter of waiting to see which stops get hit first.
The pullback is beginning to look like a bear trap and this could be the start of a melt up into year-end. Time will tell.
