A Mechanical Look at the Market

Early yesterday, I ran a custom screen on The PPT, trying to identify stocks or ETF’s that were ripe for a bounce. Much to my surprise, not one equity was produced from the screen, just dastardly inverse ETF’s. Today, the top three stocks in my “Bottom Feed” screen are [[BGZ]] , [[EDZ]] and [[EEV]] . Without a word, foreign related stocks are being poleaxed.

At the present the Overall Hybrid score is at 2.31. Historically, whenever the score dips into the 2.20’s, the market bottoms out. We shall see, once again, if this indicator holds true.

The top three stocks, based solely on technicals, are [[JADE]] , [[BONT]] and The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company [[GAP]] . The top three, by hybrid score, are [[JADE]] , Sinovac Biotech Ltd. [[SVA]] and Ultra Clean Holdings, Inc. [[UCTT]] .

The top industry is Major Oil and Gas. Within that industry, BP plc (ADR) [[BP]] and Exxon Mobil Corporation [[XOM]] are top ranked.

The top three ranked ETF’s are [[MWN]] , [[PVI]] and [[SSG]] .

In addition, [[UUP]] is showing up on most of my bullish screens, leading me to believe the dollar can still go higher from here.

All of these things point to negativity. However, I do believe the market is oversold here. As a matter of fact, a reading of 2.31 is pretty darn close to the “must buy zone.” My sense, sometime very soon we will bounce, effectively depositing our bearish friends into the old “jam-box” for further analysis.

With my money, I am waiting for a little more carnage, especially because I am 80% invested. It is not a grande [sic] feeling, being on the short end of the money pole. Nonetheless, I can’t go back and forth between cash and stocks all the time. People, in real life, might get the wrong idea and think I am a freakin’ lunatic.

As an aside, the Board of Ed is giving away free h1n1 and flu shots to NYC students. This will be a catastrophe. It is unbelievable to me that the Board of Health could be swayed by a few stupid drug companies, allowing some experimental vaccine to be injected into students k-12. As far as I see it, they should be focused on having the children wash their hands more, than messing around with retarded vaccines that DO NOT WORK. I repeat, the flu shot is a scam.

Back to the market:

I am going into earnings with Jarden Corporation [[JAH]] . I do not suggest taking unnecessary risk, by copying my trade with Jarden Corporation [[JAH]] . Earnings season is always a gamble. There are no edges, only rolls of the dice.

Yesterday all of the sudden there were some huge sell orders flooding in and we saw a big reversal. same thing this morning. The big boys are starting to come back little by little. They will allow all the retail pikers to buy dips, just like they are doing the last two mins, then they are going to come in a systematically chop off their balls

Amazing how accurate the PPT is. I bought Jade last week when it was also ranked as a strong buy – still up 13%, it’s held up so well despite the market. PPT also upgraded Jade to a strong buy in July and I managed to get out w/ a 24% gain. Thanks Fly & PPT!

just get a themerisol free shot and then you don’t need to worry about mercury; remember polio and all the rest of the “older” diseases that are largely wiped out – thank vaccines

Sign up for Dr. Mercola’s emails.

So please tell me how injecting with aluminum, formaldehyde, mercury, and antifreeze is good for you? They tell us cancer explosion coming. I guess we now know how they know.

The numbers for flu are mixed with pneumonia. It is around 35,000 added together but if you take pneumonia out it is around 1000 people die from flu a year. So you get the flu whopp de doo. I’ll take that over a mercry injection anyday.

I think every vaccine needs to be looked at carefully before you just go having it injected on blind faith.

The flu shot has, Formaldehyde, Aluminum, Mercury, Antifreeze in it. if Dr. Mercola was lying about this wouldn’t the pharma companies sue his azz? The guy is the most read Dr on the internet and his recent expose on H1N1 put him at the 6th most read site on the net that day.

Please explain to me how you think this is good for you?

Formaldehyde causes cancer. I guess we know where the bumper crop of cancer case predictions are coming from.

Lmao, this “Dr” is not even a real doctor. And surprise surprise, he has received 2 warnings from the FDA for marketing his snake oil.

        From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Mercola

Joseph Mercola, D.O. (born 1954), is an osteopathic physician, health activist, and entrepreneur practicing in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.[1] He is the author of two New York Times bestsellers, The No-Grain Diet (with Alison Rose Levy), and The Great Bird Flu Hoax, together with several other books. Mercola is best known as founder and editor of the alternative-medicine website Mercola.com, where he advocates dietary and lifestyle approaches to health and markets a variety of health-related products. Mercola criticizes many of the practices of mainstream medicine and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), particularly vaccination and the use of prescription drugs and surgery to treat diseases.[2] He is a member of the politically conservative Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, as well as several alternative medicine-related organizations.[3]

Mercola has received two warnings from the FDA for marketing nutritional products in a manner which violated the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.[4][5] A 2006 BusinessWeek editorial criticized Mercola’s marketing practices as “relying on slick promotion, clever use of information, and scare tactics.”[6]

My little bro picked it up on a Spain-Italy trip.

He first went to an Italian PUBLIC hospital, where he promptly almost croaked, as that’s where they house the incompetent doctors.

Luckily my parents got there and moved him to a private pay hospital, where they diagnosed and treated him for G-B. Of course, they had to fly him back to NYC for the civilized health care.

There’s a parable in there somewhere for you commies… 😉

My aunt was in a serious car wreck in Germany. The German public hospital performed some sort of fancy surgery that they carry out all the time over there. When she got back to the USA for a check-up the doctors were amazed. They told here there were only a handful of doctors in the States that could do the same procedure.

Scientifically, I do not EVER get sick. My antibodies are Apache helicopters, stalking my veins for any sort of anomaly that immediately gets Sidewinder missiled, its eyes scooped out with a cocktail fork, and dissolved, like a slug in a saturated cup of salt water. Due to their superior accuracy and efficiency, I do not even have pimples on my skin.

Check out VECO for LED, semiconductor, hard drive making exposure. Been holding up well.

Also, most people don’t know that those vaccines don’t even create antibodies until 2 weeks after you get the fucking shot.

Fly, if you don’t want your kids to be vaccinated, fine. They will not vaccinate them at school without your permission. There are however many kids who should get the vaccine but will not without them coming to schools.

The seasonal flu vaccine and the swine flu vaccine are not experimental, anymore than last year’s seasonal flu vaccine was experimental. They are changed year over year so that they target what they believe will be the dominant strain for the next year. The swine flu targets the swine flu.

The BCRX drug is an experimental antiviral and is approved for those who already have the swine flu. This is not what they are giving children at schools.

Both myself and my children have had the seasonal flu shot and the h1n1 (swine flu) mist, and everyone is happy and healthy. Anecdotal, I guess.

Our neighbor and good friend works in the intensive care unit for children at one of the local Richmond hospitals. She is working directly with children who have gotten very sick from the swine flu. For the children who are severely affected by the virus, it is very nasty. Their lungs are covered in a film, and this film will basically let in bacteria and other viruses. That is my limited understand of what is going on. Should swine flu become widespread and effect many people, there will be a shortage of ventilators. There is your trade, should you be looking for one.

Last week, a six year old girl in the elementary school died from swine flu. It happened very fast. She was worked on by our friend. Just like in the beginning, some people have a worse time with it than others, and the hospitals aren’t sure why, yet.

Just be careful with your babies Fly. This is no joke. Also, for anyone else out there reading this stuff, most of you are statistically minded. The odds of having trouble from one of these vaccines is much much lower than the odds of getting the flu.

    Just my two cents.

Of course I have. An association with GBS is not new for the flu vaccine.

          http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/node/4746

Here is an even better, peer reviewed article on GBS and flu vaccine
          http://www.thinktwice.com/gbs.pdf

Here is an excerpt, or several:
We found that a total of 382 cases of GBS were reported to the VAERS database following influenza vaccine administered from 1991 through 1999. There were 172 reports of GBS classified as occurring in female influenza vaccine recipients, 200 reports of GBS classified as occurring in male influenza vaccine recipients, and 10 reports of GBS in influenza vaccine recipients that did not specify a sex (male/ female ratio, 1.2). The median onset of GBS following
influenza vaccine was 12 days (interquartile range, 7 to 21 days).

          Another excerpt:
The overall mean incidence of GBS following influenza vaccination was 9.5 per 10 million influenza vaccinations in comparison to 2.2 per 10 million Td vaccinations. The incidence rate of GBS following influenza vaccine was statistically increased in comparison to the adult Td vaccine
control group (relative risk, 4.3; attributable risk, 3.3, percentage of association, 81%; P 0.0001; 95% relative risk confidence interval, 3.0 to 6.4). The incidence of severe GBS was elevated following influenza vaccination in comparison to the adult Td vaccine control group. The overall
mean incidence of severe GBS was 3.9 per 10 million influenza vaccinations in comparison to 0.46 per 10 million adult Td vaccinations. The incidence rate of severe GBS following influenza vaccination was statistically increased in comparison to the adult Td vaccine control group (relative risk, 8.5; attributable risk, 7.5; percentage of association, 89%; P 0.0001; 95% relative risk confidence interval, 3.7 to 18.9).

Basically, those are the odds. I find those odds to be acceptable, versus the odds that my 3 year old contracts swine flu and has severe complications.

Fly, you’re off your rocker tonight.

There is nothing statistical about 382 cases of GBS being reported following flu vaccine from 1991-1999.

If you really really want to prove something, find the amount of GBS being reported following other vaccines.

Wait, I’ll do that for you, mainly to benefit those out there that want to know what good research shows. This study is from the UK.

            http://archinte.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/166/12/1301

And here is more for you, this one concerning GBS after the cervical wart vaccine…

            http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/588510
Of particular interest is the following quote:

“The incidence of GBS after vaccination was calculated to about 7 per million, compared with an estimated 4 to 10 per million in the general population.”

“Although our results suggest that the incidence of post-Gardasil GBS overlaps with the incidence of GBS in the general population, the occurrence of most cases within 6 weeks after vaccination warrants continuous and careful analysis of GBS after vaccination with Gardasil,” the authors conclude.

You’ll note that these are nearly the same numbers as reported after the flu vaccine. While there is no definite answer here, what these authors note is that what they are seeing may just be that if you vaccinate enough people, some of the people vaccinated will get GBS. Thing is, they may have gotten it anyway. Law of large numbers folks…

Mercury, the preservative builds up in the brain with every annual flu shot – our bodies are extremely sensitive to mercury and it can affect the nervous system in many different ways. Obama’s own daughters aren’t getting the flu shot, and German soldiers are getting swine flu shots without the preservative including mercury and the adjuvant. The Gulf war syndromes are suspected to be from the addition of squalene which has not been approved by the FDA but which is in the adjuvant, and they are willing to either guinea pig test on the public or something more sinister. Why did the government provide an exclusion so that the pharmaceutical companies couldn’t be sued for any liability??? Look at the Baxter genocide claims from Feb 09 in which they were shipping live aids viruses to 3rd world nations.

Also, why did all the main stream media stations run fear campaigns simultaneously before even one person died – some controlled planned event is in the works that will use swine flu to justify a response – PRS (problem, response, solution) – it could include a bank holiday, devaluation, and shutting down the internet (recent news story that they may need to restrict internet usage to deal with a public emergency – um surprise this has been much less virulent than the normal annual flu despite having WHO call a #6 and Obama declaring an emergency). The claim of 1000 deaths is completely unsubstantiated, the CDC said they stopped keeping track in July – so if they are not keeping track and won’t provide any information where did the 1K come from? Difficult questions, no answers.

I now see Fly’s wisdom, as he too knows it is a scam – at best an attempt to let pharmaceutical companies profit or worse – remember the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment and plutonium experiments on citizens, we do have psychopaths in positions of power and there is a real push by certain environmental nazi’s to depopulate the earth (they think 500m to 1b people is more sustainable) and they look at people like a disease or plague covering the precious earth.

Check out this link for more information, logical reasoned: http://www.theflucase.com/

For natural protection, max out on vitamin C, take vitamin D3, oregano extract, and elderberry extract, wash hands, don’t touch your face, eat fruits and vegetables.

I know i haven’t been a loyal blogger, however, you all know that whenever i come around, i leave pot of gold.

I would like the gentlemen of ibankcoin to look at the EUR/JPY with a very technical weekly view.
What you will find is something of a bear trap that will start from the UK session tommorrow, and will last until the EUR/JPY shape changes from the concave up to a concave down rising pattern.

sorry usually id leave things in peanut gallery, but i cant seem to find the login to it.

Once again, id be thankful if you definitely pass this along to ragin, jake, woods, cuervo and the newer crew.

As long as EUR/JPY stays above 135.75 (+/- 25 pips) through tommorrow, the prospect of this becoming another bear slaughter is HIGH. Technically, EUR/JPY had broken a (weekly) rising wedge and is here to touch the top of the wedge, to once again fly upwards.

    True story.
I have not had a cold or the flu since Thanksgiving weekend 1989.
I used to get them like everybody else and I had a whopper cold that holiday period and nothing since.
I remember the date because I was with my Mom that weekend in the hospital when she died.
I have no idea why I don’t get them anymore. No vaccines, no vitamins no nothing.

You probably got most of the rhinoviruses that are “largely available” since you are old, and once you get one, you are immune.

You live in Florida, so flu’s not as big a deal, etc.

You are likely also obsessive compulsive about washing your hands. (I have a friend like this… an accountant, who I love to go up and shake hands with because it drives him crazy.)

% of S&P stocks above 10dma is ~20. Once the % gets down to or below ~10 in the next couple of days we should get a bounce just as we have every other time. The real question is whether this bounce turns into anything more than an impression of a dead cat.

The $RUT looks like it’s headed for a lower pullback low putting its uptrend on shaky ground and potentially setting up for lower highs and lower lows. Eerily reminds me of 2007 when the $RUT was the first to peak and rollover in July 2007, 3 months before the other major indexes. Went long RWM today with ~4% of my portfolio. Got fills between $47.86 and $47.88. Currently 4% short (via RWM), 60% cash and 36% long. No longer on margin in my non-qualified acct. Got a bad feeling the market could be on the second downslope portion of the W. Got two lists; one list of inverse etf’s (I hate shorting individual stocks) and one list of individual stock longs I’m watching for reversals up. I’ll let the market over the next few days tell me which list gets the 60% cash.

Just looked at your RWM (haven’t checked that one out in a while, thanks… used to use TWM).

If you draw a line from the last “green” candle top (11/20/08) through the next lower high (3/06/09) and continue it through, you will see that line intersect pretty much with today’s close on three days of very strong volume.

Tomorrow is do or die, I’d aver.

Just did what you said and see what you see, JG. Gotta say though I’m not much of a fan of trendlines. Perhaps they remind me a bit of Timmay, hence my aversion.

What I like about the chart is that momentum (MACD) has been in an uptrend making higher high’s since August of this year while RWM kept making lower price lows. My system is based on Jesse Livermore’s numerical recordkeeping and signal taking as outlined in his book ‘How to Trade in Stocks’. I also like to consult the chart and pair the numerical patterns with positive momentum divergences. Positive momentum divergences don’t get any more textbook than what I’m seeing in RWM.

As with any system, risk management is paramount and the $45 level drawn with a crayon makes for a natural stop. On the flip side, a break above the early October high of $49ish bodes well for further upside in this position.

Specially, CNBC has experienced a massive 52% decline in overall viewers during business day hours (5 am – 7 pm), and a not much better 49% drop in its demo (25-54) in the month of October as compared to last year. Specific shows that are likely to follow the fate of Dennis Kneale’s recently cancelled 8pm gobbledygook are likely the Kudlow Report and Mad Money, which are down 59% and 56%, respectively.

Search Google for something absurd and someone somewhere has an essay and research to back it up, even if they are completely wrong. You need multiple sources, peer review, and time spent digging in pdf files (so to speak)

Wood is just mad because he secretly injects people with mercury all the time. He is “Mercury Man.”

To hell with those vaccines. Shall we broach the subject of autism coinciding with vaccines, since 1990?

    Shall we?

Fly, surely you are just plugging for comment traffic here. That has been so thoroughly debunked that I can’t believe you would even mention it.

But go for it, and you will find yourself eviscerated by Mercury Man’s research.

Here is a little taste of what I will have for you:

My only retort is this Mr. Mercury:

Who funds those findings? Big pharma is everywhere. Run for the hills and avoid those stupid vaccines.

Dr. Fly, or should I call you Mr. Mercola?

First of all, for the most part, there hasn’t been Thimerosal in children’s vaccines for years. Most of children’s flu vaccines do not have it in there, this year. Some do, due to a shortage. So this issue is a red-herring. Also, assuming your children attend school, they have received many vaccines by now, and I’m assuming they are perfectly normal, excepting the fact that you are their father. Joking, of course.

Secondly, I guess you think we should have millions crippled by polio, sickened by TB, and covered in Mumps? That is just ridiculous. Would you want your children exposed to those diseases?

Thirdly, and most important for de-bunking your argument, Big Pharma makes chump change from vaccines. Follow the money. There is very little. There is absolutely NO WAY big pharma would chance getting caught sickening thousands of children for a segment of their business that brings in TINY revenues.

Read this and weep, Dr. Fly.

“The vaccine business is currently growing at a double digit rate, but still only represents about 1.5 percent of all pharmaceutical revenues.4-5 Even with industry growth fueled by limited competition and “blockbuster vaccines” such as Prevnar and Gardasil, analysts expect vaccine profits to remain below the margins of branded pharmaceuticals.6 Compared with pharmaceutical “blockbusters” capable of annual sales well over one billion dollars, most vaccines continue to yield more modest profit for manufacturers. Additionally, the current development pipeline suggests that no vaccine having blockbuster potential is expected for at least the next several years.7″

Can we put this to bed now? Is there anyone left that wants to take on Mercury Man?

I have never taken the fly vaccine. I remember my Grandparents getting it every single year. Lo and behold, every single year, immediately after getting the shot, THEY GOT THE FLU.

Well, I guess that proves that vaccines in general “don’t work.” I love how people think “the flu” is this finite defined entity…like in any given season there is excatly one specific virus that manifests itself in the exact same way in everybody. And if you get the vaccine, then get sick after, it’s either because the flu shot didn’t work, or that the flu shot made you sick. Laughable…

“As an aside, the Board of Ed is giving away free h1n1 and flu shots to NYC students. I repeat, the flu shot is a scam.”

Fly, you’re a brilliant market guy. But don’t be an idiot!
