10,500 or Die

Ok, I’ll be the first to admit it; runaway bull markets are boring. You have to understand, I’ve done this shit before—ramp up, make a bundle, then repeat. At least in bear markets, people are bugging the fuck out, making the whole experience all the more interesting, pardon my inappropriate grammaur [sic]. When the market was fucking itself, as a blogger and money manager, it was nirvana. Oh, how I long for the days of total collapse.

But, unfortunately, “The Fly” is cursed with the gift of a “winship.” The market reversed and I followed it higher, like a dog humping a fire hydrant.

So, this leads to my next challenge: keeping my creative side busy with something of interest, a challenge of sorts. If you recall, last year, I played Frank Sinatra music vids until the Dow broke down to 7,500. And, before that, I stopped cursing, until the Dow broke below some important level. Well, I am doing it again.

Hear this, losers of the internet aka “readers”:

“The Fly” will NOT use foul language, on this blog or in real life(there is no way for you to quantify the latter), until the Dow hits 10,500.

Its been said; so it shall come treu [sic]. There.

Good Day to you.

i often become befuddled when trying to ” put my convictions into action” in the market. i guess sometimes it takes courage in what you believe in, or your preferred metaphor, just putting those big ol’ balls up on the guillotine. trading & doing well in investing definitely takes some balls o steel.

I can’t and won’t believe this motherfucking shit. The Fly can not abstain from saying ‘Go fuck yourselves’ anymore than I can refrain from making fun of TIM or FTK NOT hitting $3.

Some egregious asshole will show up here and many of you will be told to go fuck yourselves repeatably. I will celebrate that day with plenty of 8% beer(you american assholes need to put alcohol in your regular beer, just try it once, you won’t die I promise).

citigroup tonight on the Chinese Gaming news:

What’s New — Over the weekend, General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and National Copyright Administration issued a circular announcing some regulations and controls over online games companies…
NetEase caught in the battle — While these developments look like the banning and oversight of the overall industry, we believe the main target is NetEase. NetEase went ahead and commercially launched World of Warcraft (WoW) on September 19 without receiving approval from the GAPP, although it had already received approval from the MoC in July.

Buy on current weakness: PWRD and Kingsoft — As we do not believe the Chinese government will completely shut down most of the gaming operations, we would be aggressive buyers of pure plays (in-house developers) such as PWRD and Kingsoft after the recent sell-off.

Don’t forget that when you mine lots and lots of gold and silver nuggets, you need something to gas up your smelter.

Don’t forget natty gas, but forget about “playing it safe” with some fat ETF like UNG.

Nah, throw the dice, fer Christmas sakes.

Cisco to acquire Starent Networks for $35 per share or $2.9B

Cisco (CSCO) and Starent Networks (STAR) announced a definitive agreement for Cisco to acquire Starent Networks. Starent Networks is a leading supplier of IP-based mobile infrastructure solutions targeting mobile and converged carriers. The Mobile Internet is at an inflection point as IP-enabled Smartphones and other connected mobile devices gain rapid acceptance. Service Providers have been actively investing in this market as global mobile data traffic is expected to more than double every year through 2013, according to the Cisco Visual Networking Index. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay $35 per share in cash in exchange for each share of Starent Networks and assume outstanding equity awards for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $2.9B. The acquisition has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies. The acquisition is expected to close during the first half of calendar year 2010; however, the close date is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory reviews. Cisco expects the acquisition to be dilutive to non-GAAP earnings in fiscal years 2010 and 2011 and accretive to non-GAAP earnings in fiscal year 2012.

The Wall Street (NYC) police precinct has confirmed reports of old men being pushed down manholes.

Witnesses say a man wearing a white cape and leather sandals was observed leaving the scene of each incident.

2 more eye witnesses have confirmed the man was in fact wearing a white robe, not a cape as the first witnesses thought.
